WNC_Fort
I’ve dipped below 33. But unconvinced there will be any actual moisture at this point. Same as last year.

BooneWX
Snow levels are indeed falling. The camera on top of Hibriten Mtn in Lenoir is showing light snow beginning to fall. Elev: 2,211’
WNC_Fort
At least in the years where it’s warm, you know you don’t have a shot. These last few years have been so hard because we’re always so close. It reminds me of the stretch in the mid 2000s (05-08?) where it snowed all around the foothills but we never cashed in until Dec 09. But even then we squeaked out a few small events.

I still see some signs of something this afternoon, but idk what it is or what it’s trying to pick up on. It’s not organized banding but the hrrr is still showing some weird little impulse. Granted it’s the GFS, and double granted, it’s the gfs at nowcast time, but I do find it wild that it didn’t back down a single bit and almost shows some lee enhancement late morning. Too warm for more than token mixture. Its about 40 at the house now.
WNC_Fort
I think I need to give in and just buy a “snow house” up in Banner Elk or on Beech to get my fix on an annual basis. Unfortunately, nothing hits as hard as a snow at home though. 2

May have to move so the foothills can win again!
BooneWX
Temp going up with the heaviest rain rates of the day. Lmao. You can’t do anything but just chuckle at this point. We have to be the most unlucky group this side of the Mississippi.

Some places in Virginia are going to see almost as much snow as we have seen the past 6 winters combined in 3 days before December 9th.

I had good elevation in the area I was in and also cashed in being closer to VA sometimes. I might have to go land hunting soon and build another one.

BooneWX
Well that’s all for this event folks. Precip orientation has now shifted NW to SE with this tail end, so that should effectively warm the air with Downsloping. Remember, no refunds allowed, please follow the exit signs accordingly as you get off the ride.

Challenge level: 10/10 Id kill for a good Miller B style storm right now. Give me that front end thump followed by a sleet fest to ensure it doesn’t melt for a week. A 2022 repeat would heal my soul.
