Yes, a BIG reason is because "hydrometeorological" has been botched up 7 ways 'till Sunday by the media and others. More recently, we were quoted as the "Hydrological Predication Center". We went from the National Meteorological Center, A DECENT NAME, to a bad one. The Weather Prediction Center is a good name. Heck you can even pronounce it.
