  1. Awesome! You're a brave man ducking ropes on new boards in October.
  2. Pretty awesome pics came out of there yesterday with 4" new and 2100' open. That was the place to be.
  3. https://www.wwlp.com/weather/weather-news/tornado-touchdown-confirmed-in-hardwick/1554987823 The new UMass X band got a decent look at the Hardwick tornado. We have some partial beam blockage from the Pelham hills to the east, which decreases the signal quality a little bit, but all the same the rotation signature was pretty clear.
  4. They have other kind of holds at Magic
  5. Yeah, quite a bit in S Amherst too. None here at UMass. Cool looking sky and a nice updraft evident.
  6. Agree. Seeing white up top from 91 is an annual way I mark the seasons and it never fails to put a big dumb grin on my face. I am fairly sure that if you squint at this image you'll see Camels Hump and Mansfield on the horizon here. On a clearer day you can definitely see them well. There's also a decent view of some of the Whites from the observation tower at the top.
  7. Hiked up Ascutney on the Weathersfield trail today. 53 with thin OVC at the trailhead and cooler at the top for sure, though no real breeze. About a 6 mi loop and fairly strenuous with a 2100' rise and some notable terrain.
  8. Nice one. Just reinstalled a Doppler radar on Orchard Hill after 5 years without one. Should come online this fall.
  9. Nice. Feel like I've seen your pics before... in person
  10. I have only been 2 or 3 times in the last 12 mos but it's been pretty organized and the lines move. We headed out maybe 5 minutes before the line of thunderstorms arrived and I assume there must have been some havoc as folks scattered. It came down in sheets for a few minutes there.
  11. Fwiw, arrived at 135, had Very Green cans by 2 and a pint of Doubleganger by 220. Saw at least 50 nice dogs in line and even a cat!
  12. Severe Thunderstorm and Flash Flood Warnings both in effect here at UMass. Very cool looking sky, if nothing else.
  13. Ours have taken flight! It's slightly less disgusting.
  14. line came through with a fair amount of lightning including some close strikes, briefly heavy rain, and light winds.
  15. Same and much lower dews. Sunday broke it by a full degree with big time dews. Previous HI record on my PWS was actually 9/11/13 and beat that by several degrees. PWS aside, the AWOS measurements at ORE and EEN were off the charts. I don't know what the dews were like in 1911, but you'd be hard pressed to find hotter days in the valley.
  16. mid 90s over mid to upper 60s felt like getting a break today. This was Texas like... the last couple days had Texas saying glad we don't live there.
  17. You could tell by the look of it that it was struggling to maintain an updraft, but at any rate we were able to score a heavy downpour out of it. Should be fun when the sun comes back out here shortly.
  18. great shots this was the 2nd TOR storm in Btown
  19. this I have a small handful of go to spots with a good view, not many trees, and an escape route. But if the storm isn't ideally situated you're SOL and that's all there is to it.
  20. cannot confirm but there was a lot of rotation in the meso and a substantial lowering
  21. the first of the two cells that came along rt 202 was quite impressive and the SVR that was put on it was very much warranted from what I observed. The TOR warned cell was rain wrapped but really quite calm by comparison as it passed by.
