  1. Speaking of feast or famine regarding rainfall, we had 17" here in August and so far about 1/4" in September. Great grass seeding weather if you've got a well. Good luck with the plants!
  2. We've got a couple of extra pieces of frost blanket you can have if you feel like driving over here - 12 ft and 24 ft wide x up to 50 ft. long. Keeps the temps up about 5 to 8 degrees. They probably sell it at Home Depot or places like that as well, although maybe not 24' wide.
  3. No mowing but the crickets are out in force here too.
  4. Had light rain off and on most of the afternoon, but the driveway is still dry under a couple of trees. It was enough to rule out mowing, etc.
  5. What a beautiful day outside! 72F here. Do see a bunch of cumulus drifting down from the NNW, hopefully there's more sun than clouds today.
  6. Only got about an inch here since yesterday, but that's ok. Total here for August is over 17", and will probably finish there. I wouldn't mind a bit of dryness in September, but not too much of course, lol.
  7. Looks like the worst of it is through here now, total of 0.80" of rain, maybe a little more to come with the trailing showers. Humid but comfortable out at the moment.
  8. Pretty cool clouds as that 2nd line is dropping down this way. Getting breezy now too.
  9. Just got about 1/2" of rain and a few 1/2" hail stones from that line that popped up in front of the main line. Let's see if it causes any weakening of that main line in this area.
  10. Don't know if it's verified, but the severe t'storm warning down in southern New Castle county Delaware says 2" hail indicated by radar. Wow!
  11. Yeah I said 1.5", think it was closer to 2" here. Elam is about 1/4 mile from here, I had to look it up the 1st time I saw it in a severe t'storm warning, lol.
  12. Wound up with about 1.5" here. So this is how the water runoff is supposed to look, with everything just about restored from a couple of weeks ago. I put some piles of dirt out earlier, to rake in some gouged out spots for reseeding, but that won't happen today!
  13. On the northern edge of another blob here, coming down pretty good. Hanging out under a holy tent, lol.
  14. Got about a half inch here, cooled things off nicely for the moment.
  15. It's a little bit better outside today, DP is down to 71 here, temp. 80F. Nice little breeze out of the East/ENE. Still humid, but better!
  16. 5th day in a row here moving rocks and screenings. Trying to beat the theoretical heavy rain...getting close to being ready even though there will be a few days of "touch up" afterward. It's been brutal as you can imagine! Currently 85F with DP 78+.
  17. Same measurements here - looking forward to some relief!
  18. Cheers! And yes, a lot of Gatorade gets consumed here too. Days like these and working outside, I like it to feel like a walk in refrigerator when I come inside. 73F on the t'stat does the trick, although I could take 70 if it wasn't for the electric bill, lol.
  19. We were playing with rocks all day and yeah, I could wring my tee shirt out. Plus it's down in a slight valley, not much air movement, and everything is damp from all the rain last week. And then we had a shower in the pm just to keep things nicely humid. AC feels great now!
  20. Wasn't in the forecast but might get a little t'shower...heard thunder a minute ago. Out here working on the rocks, wouldn't mind if it missed us, but kinda looks like it's gonna hold together.
  21. Cool, sounds like I can put everything back the way it was and not worry about it for a very long time. Right?
  22. So this is the lawn after the glacier of 2019-2020 receded. Left behind a lot of rocks rounded off by the pressure and friction of the massive moving snow mass.
  23. I'm going with the 6.40" in the gauge here, I saw somewhere that someone measured a rate of 12" per hour at one point. Anyway, when we created this rock area out back, in 2014, we put a 6" pipe in to handle non-heavy rainfalls, and figured that the "3 year flood" would just overflow and run across the grass. We contoured the grass so the water would be spread out over a 40 to 50' wide area. It's worked pretty well overall, except we seem to get 2 or 3 "3 year floods" a year now. Up until today we had never had a single rock wash out onto the grass, at the most some debris from the woods (like Tuesday). This rain today was so far beyond anything we anticipated, I don't think we could have designed for it. First pic, my son was having some fun in it, lol. 2nd pic is during the rain. 3rd pic is the aftermath. Those are river rocks out on the grass, some of them are 8 or 9" long. Guess I won't be mowing there for a few days.
