I will say it's pretty encouraging that the mid range has 2-3 legit threats for measurable snow. None are perfect threats and all are looking fairly minor, but I'd be fairly surprised at this point if none of them bring measurable snow. They look messy, ie rain to snow or snow to rain, but I'm growing more confident that we at least see a 1-3"er in there so we at least will be over a trace on the season hopefully...

The Sunday night possibility seems to have legs, definitely a thread the needle situation. It's got the wiggum rule working for it as of today, lol.

I usually keep the inside/outside lights up/on till the Birds lose and done for the year. This way I may actually see snow one year w/the lights still up/on...

Yeah we often keep them on one tree outside until sometime in March, lol, whenever it looks like we are done with snow, for that reason. It does look nice (with snow). Problem is, this year we never got around to putting them up. We had some on that tree but a buck must've got his antlers tangled in them, cuz we found a string in the field about 40 feet away.

I honestly don't think we see much of anything...some flakes maybe. No real support on the ens. The premise of my post was more to show the roller coaster with us possibly touching 60 then flakes a few days later.

Eta: Euro has the temp swing and flakes as well. I just think the effect is pretty neat and somewhat predictable

Just going by memory, no data, it seems that when the wiggum rule works it's usually accumulating snow, more than just flakes. We shall see!

Do you think tomorrow morning is going to have thick & streaming lake effect clouds from the NW flow? Or clearer skies? Was thinking it could be a decent sunrise, might shoot to the shore to take some pics, with the well-groomed swell and strong offshore winds it should look nice.

Might not be too bad, forecast here calls for west winds tomorrow. Could be nice and steamy out on the water!

  5. 22F here, DP 8. The snow frosting dried up or melted, but this cold means business.

Lost a tree around noon that we knew was on the way out, had planned on cutting off one large mostly dead branch, but now the whole tree is down. It was about 7 feet from the NW corner of the barn, but it fell due north, thankfully. I mean thank goodness! It did empty the rainwater out of the green wagon, lol. Gives me something to do in my spare time, haha.

I think we're alright for snow looking at points west. MA/S always seems to get screwed...I'll take a 1" w/wind and we're guaranteed a white Christmas w/the cold temps expected.

That thin line was cool, started as a heavy shower, then over to heavy sleet, and then back to light rain in about 5 minutes. Did get a coating of sleet in shaded areas. Temp now 40F.
