I'm hopeful for something tonight - Mt. Holly forecast discussion mentioned possibilities, and the nams and hrrr showed it as well. And lookie there, some stuff popping up. Fingers crossed!

Alright folks, moving to the end of next week to a place where it doesn't snow. They always called me snow storm Steve but all good things come to an end. I wish you white loving weenies the best
Thanks. Good luck to you! Now you can be Hurricane Steve (if you're close enough to the coast).

Got 0.14" here, monthly total is 2.47". Currently 81F and dp of 75. Pretty humid but it does feel better with it cooled off a bit.

Gave it a shot about 10 minutes after sunset - no crickets, no cicadas, no katydids. Just bizarre!
It's currently 85 with dp that has now crept up to 70.
Katydids are just starting up for the evening here, they've been pretty vocal (with their legs) for the last week plus. Crickets are partying too, I mean it is Saturday night.
Not much in the way of cicadas here either, not sure if the hundreds of cicada killers we have in our front yard have anything to do with it.

0.18" here yesterday afternoon and evening, total for July so far is 2.33". Looks like dog days of summer for this coming week.

It was too many drops to count! Currently 73F here with dp a more comfortable 66.

Hearing a katydid outside here, seems a little early. Also saw a boatload of cicada killers today, may be why I'm not hearing that many locusts?

What an incredible sunset. My phone couldn't handle the beauty, so out came the SLRs. Hopefully I captured it. The foreground will suck, but the sky was amazing.
The color here was pretty cool - looking forward to your pics! Had about 35 drops of rain here.

You can always try overseeding with annual blue grass (fastest to germinate and won't come back next year) and watering with a sprinkler. It will perk back up in no time
Are you thinking of annual ryegrass? Most consider annual blue grass a weed, if he wants some he's welcome to come dig mine up, lol. Not to be confused with Kentucky bluegrass of course.

So it goes.
Mid-Atlantic summer is upon us. Today was thankfully mostly cloudy, at least. My wife is taking her mom to the Kutztown Folk Festival this weekend, traditionally known in my family as the "hottest weekend all summer" just because of course it is. Somehow I've managed to be able to opt out this year. Something about needing me to "watching the puppy" or "catch up on house projects". The "puppy" is largely self-governing at this point, and any "house projects" can safely be postponed due to having to "watch the puppy" so it's a win-win. I think I'll be able to manage all of the above while sipping a beverage or two in my basement woodshop for a change. My wife is a saint.
I was going to say Saturday looked like a good day for mowing, but not anymore. Sunday and Monday look pretty awesome though.

Not even on the abnormally dry drought map tells how sudden the spigot has shut off
Been fortunate down here, got 1.25" overnight and early this morning, 1.93" for July so far.

Got a quarter inch of rain between some showers late yesterday and another one this afternoon. Plenty humid here, dp is 74.

So like I tilled up sections of lawn and planted fescue and those sections are totally dormant thanks to the lack of rain and high temps. Thing is though I was selling my house and everything was green when it went under contract. Hard to think someone would care so much but hopefully buyers don't lose their shit when they come thru for walk thru. It'll bounce back in fall and look like sex all over again but looks all kinds of stupid right now. The reverse happens in winter with the zoysia looking like ass.
As long as you're taking care of it overall I wouldn't worry about it. It's the way of things. If they wanna push the issue, buy them a bag of grass seed. It would be a little like complaining cuz there are mosquitos now whereas there weren't any in the spring.

July 6th and no cicadas yet. Some years I've heard them as early as late June. Gotta think in the next week they'll make an appearance?
81F/DP 72F
Funny you mention that, I heard one twice yesterday, 1st of the season, but so far none today.

Nice I had a few distant rumbles from the five yellow two red pixel dot storm that skimmed me to the NW
Well it's something I guess, along with the 40 drops of rain. Getting a surprise bonus round here:
-
Got 0.18" of rain earlier and had one huge ctg bolt of lightning less than a quarter mile away, even scared the birds. Had to be 4 to 6 inch diameter.

Yeah I'm hearing an occasional distant rumble of thunder from out that way, although it looks like it might be re-forming farther north. I looked at Mt. Holly's severe t'storm warning list, they all had hail, penny sized (Binghamton), quarter sized (LWX), half dollar sized (State College) and ping pong ball sized (Mt. Holly). Although the State College and Mt. Holly warnings were for the same storm.

I don't mind it at all even if surrounding houses are blowing stuff off at 3am this weekend. I don't sleep well to begin with so it will add a little overnight entertainment.
You can buy some pretty good stuff in PA. A stone throw from me in lansdale, JTA neck of the woods. Open late so when your're loaded you can buy explosives...
79F/DP 73F ...decent breeze.
Cool. And nice breeze here too. When I was growing up all you could get in PA was sparklers. Although in the back of Popular Science there were classifieds, and once in a while there'd be ads for kits to make stuff. For $1.00 you could get a catalog and 100 feet of underwater fuse, lol.
Edit - nice lightning bug turnout tonight!

Wound up with 0.72" of beautiful rain, over about 20 minutes, so most of it had a chance to be soaked up. Good stuff!
