So like I tilled up sections of lawn and planted fescue and those sections are totally dormant thanks to the lack of rain and high temps. Thing is though I was selling my house and everything was green when it went under contract. Hard to think someone would care so much but hopefully buyers don't lose their shit when they come thru for walk thru. It'll bounce back in fall and look like sex all over again but looks all kinds of stupid right now. The reverse happens in winter with the zoysia looking like ass.
As long as you're taking care of it overall I wouldn't worry about it. It's the way of things. If they wanna push the issue, buy them a bag of grass seed. It would be a little like complaining cuz there are mosquitos now whereas there weren't any in the spring.

July 6th and no cicadas yet. Some years I've heard them as early as late June. Gotta think in the next week they'll make an appearance?

Funny you mention that, I heard one twice yesterday, 1st of the season, but so far none today.

Nice I had a few distant rumbles from the five yellow two red pixel dot storm that skimmed me to the NW
Well it's something I guess, along with the 40 drops of rain. Getting a surprise bonus round here:
-
Got 0.18" of rain earlier and had one huge ctg bolt of lightning less than a quarter mile away, even scared the birds. Had to be 4 to 6 inch diameter.

Yeah I'm hearing an occasional distant rumble of thunder from out that way, although it looks like it might be re-forming farther north. I looked at Mt. Holly's severe t'storm warning list, they all had hail, penny sized (Binghamton), quarter sized (LWX), half dollar sized (State College) and ping pong ball sized (Mt. Holly). Although the State College and Mt. Holly warnings were for the same storm.

I don't mind it at all even if surrounding houses are blowing stuff off at 3am this weekend. I don't sleep well to begin with so it will add a little overnight entertainment.
You can buy some pretty good stuff in PA. A stone throw from me in lansdale, JTA neck of the woods. Open late so when your're loaded you can buy explosives...
79F/DP 73F ...decent breeze.
Cool. And nice breeze here too. When I was growing up all you could get in PA was sparklers. Although in the back of Popular Science there were classifieds, and once in a while there'd be ads for kits to make stuff. For $1.00 you could get a catalog and 100 feet of underwater fuse, lol.
Edit - nice lightning bug turnout tonight!

Accuweather thinks it's extremely humid inside, lol. I get the fireworks thing totally, but it can get annoying unless you're setting some off yourself. We used to go to open spaces, didn't want to bounce a rocket off someone's house. Also the good stuff used to be not legal in PA, not sure about now, I know it's gotten more lenient.

Had an unexpected high of 90 today (3rd for the month of June and #6 since May) and the dp managed to keep itself in check, generally staying in the upper 50s and low 60s.
It's currently bopping between 87 and 88, partly sunny with lot of cumulus, and sporting a dp of 62.
Currently 84F here, and sporting a not so sporty dp of 74.

Picked up 0.74" of rain last night and this morning, puts the June total at 4.90" so far!

I like the three HHH's in summer
And if memory serves, you like a nice Hammock too, which would put you in the 4H club.

No question we'll get blasted at some point. The question is how long of a period. Blow torch for 2-3 days here and there then cool off a bit I don't mind. It's those damn heat waves (90+ HHH) for days/weeks on end are horrible...it alters my brain/mood chemistry.
69F/DP 64F
Likewise. If it's for a few days and there's a cold front (preferably with showers or tstorms) on the horizon, with a meaningful drop in temps and humidity (more than upper 80s for a day, lol) I find it easier to take. Keep it moving, in other words.

Why on earth are you thinking of ways to break this pattern? I'm thinking of ways to keep it in place till Fall...it's perfect.
66F/DP 63F
I'm with you on that, although we both know it's not realistic to expect it to hold. As long as it can hang around, I welcome it. I think RedSky (or a family member) wants it hot, and he's trying to reverse psychology it into existence, lol. It's a pretty safe bet they'll get their wish come July, but all things are possible.

Interestingly, that little skinny area of orange to the NNW of here is putting out some thunder. Currently 71F and cloudy, pretty comfortable out.

61F here but clear and more calm than last night...should hit upper 40s at some point.
Still 60 here at 1 am, but the dewpoint is 34, lol.

53F here last night around 3:30am....not sure how much lower the temps dropped.
Projected low tonight is 49F. Winds a tad less breezy now so may be achieved...
I made it to 52 here last night, so I'd think you most likely made it to at least 51. 64F here currently, today was awesome.

Picked up 0.43" of rain earlier today, 4.16" for the month. Not a bad day out at all.
-
Severe t'storm warning here, mainly heavy rain at the moment, with some thunder and lightning. 67F currently.

Another evening with a jacket more reminiscent of mid September.
Yeah I put on a sweatshirt last night, although I'm guessing that down south here I'll still be in shorts and tee shirts come mid September. But I wouldn't turn down cool weather then either.

Got 1.25" here in multiple rounds early this morning, including a nice thunderclap that woke us up around 5 am. Gets the rainfall total up to 2.73" since last Tuesday, and 3.48" for the month. Family member is happy! 66F currently.

thoughts on Phillies game tomorrow, 1:35pm?
Looking at the mesoscale models and Mt. Holly's forecast discussion, looks like maybe some early morning action, then a lull until late in the pm, so you might be okay. Sounds like it will get pretty muggy too.

Figure I should mention here that I'll be returning to the area permanently in May...

Hey Mike, I enjoyed reading your near term forecast discussion just now, and I noticed last night and again tonight this new guy, RCM. And it dawned on me, that's gotta be Raymond C. Martin. Hot dang Ray, welcome back again! I realize I'm out on a limb here and maybe my extrapolation is off, but nah, lol.

Wound up with 1.23" overnight, and with the 0.25 from Tuesday night adds up to, wait for it, 1.48" this week. Plant life is happy!

Have the tail end of it moving through here now, lots of thunder and lightning and about a half inch of rain in 20 minutes, not too much wind though. Overnight total here so far is 1.05", a nice soaker! Currently 70F.

Been nice and showery here with some cloud lightning, including one that was right overhead and very bright, with the long rolling thunder that rumbles off into the distance. So far about 0.20" for this evening. Nice out (for sitting on the porch)!
