When you do the update, can you at least expand the marginal risk area east a bit? I could use a little excess over here.

Just for you, I did :)

Actually I did it with meteorological merit. It’ll be close today!

  2. Been loving the new job so far yall. I actually have a training shift for winter in October.

If you ever want to check out updates on todays Excessive Rainfall, I’ll have my last name on there for the afternoon package :)

This week is my first alone and I’m getting the hang of it. Still a lot to learn, but this is a great spot. Love where I work.

  3. 18z GFS with one of 877 possible outcomes at this range. Too far to parse details. Timing of northern stream trough pattern, strength of surface ridge in the Atlantic, and perturbations within the mid-level flow that won’t be parsed until another 10 days out will play a role in the path of the storm.

Non-zero number for direct east coast impact, but number for the time-being is small unless noted otherwise. Just follow along per the usual at this range.

I so so appreciate your support. These chases are the toughest challenge, and you help make it easier. I owe you a dinner or two when I’m back in DC. :)

Anytime my man. My name has been on some of the Excessive Rainfall Outlooks for this event. Quite the first two weeks of training :arrowhead:

Welcome home (a bit late)!!  Of course, you might not have thought it felt so good about a week or so ago when it was 98 degrees!!

Considering I was leaving 42 of the last 45 days over 100° and it was forecasted to hit 105-110° after I left, I would still feel good about it

We have had some memorable snow falls up here. Now if we could just get some rain. @MillvilleWx drag any moisture you can with you next week. Do not let the green fool you when you roll into town. The tree line behind my house is looking quite pathetic and bedraggled. As it is supposed to go scorched earth tomorrow, we will get no help.

Going to try my best. I'll scoop up some Gulf on the way here. Hopefully I can bring the rain!

  7. Favorite Storm to Track: Jan 2016

    Favorite Storm(s) to Watch Unfold: Feb 11, 2010 & Feb 2006

Favorite Winter: 2009-10 w/ 2013-14 not far behind (Insane wall-to-wall winter)

Honorable mentions: Jan 96 (First snow memory), Jan 00, PDII, Vikings/Ravens snow game in Dec, Feb 2014 Ice Storm at Millersville, Snowmagedon, 2011 Commutagedon but I had pneumonia so I couldn't thoroughly enjoy it :(

I will not include my chase to Mass for the Feb 2013 blizzard since it wasn't in the Mid-Atlantic, but that was an absolute all-timer for me. Never seen anything like that before.

Also I haven’t seen anyone mention the Feb 2006 storm. We may not have gotten the sheer accumulations like 96, 10, and 16, but it was memorable in that I stayed up all night to watch the storm unfold. Rates were awesome. Near whiteout conditions at the height of the storm

This is the storm that solidified the fact I wanted to be a meteorologist. My dad woke me up at 1AM or so because it was thundersnow out. 20" in a short period of time later....Truly magical. Heaviest rates I've ever seen so far from a single storm. Hit over 4.5"/hr at one point. Just NW of I-95 where I lived over to Randallstown got absolutely smoked. Snow melted quick though as the air was moderated behind it. I remember seeing drips occurring at 10am while shoveling and having to remove my layers I was so hot lol. It was truly a one of a kind storm. I believe that gave Columbia, NY it's all-time snowfall record in 24 hrs too.

I have been drinking more whiskey/bourbon lately. Mostly an Old Fashioned. I make em strong, and not very sweet. They bite.

That reminds me, we have to meet up at some point. You know, for science and stuff :D

Let’s just get rid of all social media.

Social media is really important for messaging these days. Younger generations get a lot of pertinent information from social media outlets and it has helped civic engagement. Then there's mindless TikTok videos which are unfortunately mixed with good tiktok. Therein lies the conundrum. Then there's Reddit.....maybe we should get rid of SM :yikes:

Everyone else is leaving Twitter, so they need someone new to follow.

    This is probably right

Hell, even I'm looking to leave

I'd not sure that is a problem lol.

I am still flabbergasted at the fact. All of them are very friendly and I even had a chat with Cantore after he followed me. Super nice. We met up in Saratoga Springs for the 25th annual Northeast Storms conference in 2015. He was jealous of how many times I'd had heard thundersnow lol

Being followed by CWG was really cool. I would love to meet @usedtobe at some point. Just have to watch out for that @Ian guy :D

  13. A few days ago I was followed by CWG on Twitter. I followed them for a LONG time.

This morning I got followed by Jim Cantore and Stephanie Abrams.

    What on earth is happening?

Undefeated in the Colton Cowser era. What a day for the organization. Most wins at the AS break since 97, promoted the #1 prospect in baseball to AA, promoted Coby Mayo to AAA, and about to draft 3 new prospects.

I am floored we got Bradfield Jr. This dude could be a major catalyst for the top of the order some day. Lightning fast, awesome defense, and a great approach at the plate. He's one of those 50+ SB in a season type talents. Those don't grow on trees at this caliber.

  15. Not related to the area, but did a synopsis on Twitter about the major flooding across NY and New England. Give it a read and Like/RT to help me out.

I hope to do more of these while I’m at WPC. I love doing this ^_^

Meh day here in CO but my luck continues because I captured a brief time lapse of the one severe warned storm in the area today. Dropped 1” hail according to a spotter report.

    Happy birthday to me lol

    Happy Birthday Don!

Chasing out west for my upcoming birthday and spotted this dust devil (or landspout? :weenie:) in Wisconsin.

    f0t7lvL.jpg

Definitely a dust devil given the body of the circulation. Desert climates are notorious for these because the surface of the dusty, sandy soils can produce extreme heat a given point. Farm lands can also exhibit these characteristics when they are drier and given the clear skies overhead, this is likely a thermodynamic response to diurnal heating and not from a convergence point from two boundaries. Good capture!

Any spider experts on the board? I believe this is a young male northern black widow. Found it under my deck this morning. The white banding and broken hour glass are consistent w what I found online.

Not a spider expert, but it certainly looks like the new owner of your home
