  1. Awesome looking anvil off to my NW. Looks like the Allentown area is taking it on the chin again.
  2. I remember getting out of work early for Floyd. I thought it was ridiculous—it’s rain, not snow. But I wasn’t going to argue about being sent home. Then I got out on the roads and my (at the time) 15-20 minute commute took close to an hour with all the road closures. I did debate taking a walk but decided against it. Not so much for the rain but the wind—I didn’t want a branch or power line coming down on me. Anyway, this afternoon’s Euro was interesting. To my untrained eye it looks like it keeps Isaias rather consolidated so we only get heavy rains west of I-95 and not biblical rains. Still plenty of time, nothings set in stone.
  3. 90F/DP 77 Got stuff up and off the basement floor in anticipation.
  4. Why do they assign hurricane names that nobody knows how to pronounce?? 87F/DP 65
  5. Nothing more than a T here so far. I heard last night's storm pass by to my south -- some thunder, lightning and wind gusts, but that was about it. 74F/DP 70.
  6. Also heard my first crickets and katydids last night. Now the countdown to the first frost begins to kill them off!
  7. Maybe 7! It looks like there's a C-2-C strike top right. And just below that on the horizon there's a bit of light, but can't really say if it's lightning in the distance or not.
  8. Looks like it keeps back building over NW Philly.
  9. I was unable to get an accurate total of last night's rain, but I was getting 3.60" rates per hour and it was coming down like that for 30-40 minutes. Ponding in the basement this morning, I've got the dehumidifier running down there. 75F/DP 74.
  10. Tacked on another .05" this morning. Looks like another line forming to the west of Agnes and Kamu.
  11. Ended up with .77" today, temp down to 73F. Two good storms in two days. Can we make it a hat trick tomorrow?
  12. You would think. I'm a little surprised at how unenthusiastic the models are for later today. Doesn't mean they're right, especially when it comes to convection.
  13. Ended up with .60". I think this is the first rain I've gotten since Fay. Car windows steamed up, 73F/DP 73 … disgusting!
  14. Pretty good storm here, plenty of thunder & lightning. Already picked up .40" with more to come. Temp down to 73F.
  15. Agreed, Hale-Bopp is the gold standard I'll measure all comets against. Halley's was a disappointment as was Kohoutek in 1973. I remember looking for it in the backyard as a 6-year old, but I don't think we found it. Still would like to experience a total eclipse (will have to plan a trip for that) and view a supernova.
  16. Was under some clouds for a bit that kept temps in check, but now up to 87F as noon approaches. Dipped down to a bone chilling 79F overnight. I did manage to see the comet Saturday evening using an 8" Dobsonian, but I think binoculars would work too. Still no crickets or katydids.
  17. You’re both ahead of me. No katydids or crickets here yet. I’m going comet hunting tonight and tomorrow (clear skies permitting), I’ll keep my ears open.
  18. I was out in the yard this morning, not bad at all with the high clouds and breeze. Enjoy it while it lasts, incoming summer of azz! 81F/ DP 67
  19. Picked up .20" overnight. Despite all the recent rain, the ground is not soggy and my sump pump wells are dry. I'm sure there was a lot of run off on Friday, but just goes to show how dry it's been -- the lawn soaked up the rain like a sponge.
  20. I think we have an X-File on our hands.
  21. Hearing cicadas this morning and there's a dead mouse on the driveway. Other than that, 78F/DP 66.
  22. From what I read, the males don't have stingers. And while the females do, they have no interest in going after people. But yeah, they are vicious looking!
  23. Saw my first cicada bee this morning but still haven't heard any cicadas. That sucker is going to starve!
  24. 3.51" for a total. That should keep the lawn green for another week. Marginal risk today, more storms later?
  25. 3.36", just some leftover snizzle now.
