  1. Looking at the 84hr NAM (yeah yeah, I know), I 'm wondering if this will be more a severe wx threat than a winter storm threat
  2. More than 72 hours to go...just a few more ticks east, please. We'll still taint, just hoping to maximize frozen.
  3. I want to say Super Bowl night 2000 DC got slammed and we were rain after a little front end frozen. Don't know that I'd call it "normal" but it's happened.
  4. I'll sign up for that. Reminds me of those 70's storms where we'd get a front end thump, then flip to rain. Anything that survived froze like a rock as the arctic air poured in on the backside.
  5. Wow, look at those temps…winter canceled!
  6. Ha! You read my mind but I wasn't going to say it cause I didn't want to come across as being a Deb. But yeah, quite a dramatic shift in 12 hours. But it's across most of the guidance in some form or another, not just one model suite, so I'm not sure what to make of it. Just going to enjoy it for now.
  7. Still nearly a week out, so I'm not going to sweat the details. Just happy to have such a strong storm signal at this range.
  8. Redsky just got his 500 mile shift west...and then some. 19F
  9. Yes, I noticed the reinforcements from your forum. Thanks for helping us squash that cockroach!
  10. Among the things I like about snow on the ground is seeing all the animal tracks. Amazing how busy my yard is when I'm not looking!
  11. Temperature climbed back to 31F this afternoon. Who's worried, Ralph? Happy hour is about to deliver
  12. I'm not really down on the pattern, just reacting to reading Ji posts first thing in the morning. I think if you're KU hunting, you'll be disappointed way more often than not. Me? I'm fine with numerous nickel & dime events that keep the ground white. But as we've always said, if a big dog were to happen, it's usually when a pattern is setting in or breaking down. Once said pattern is established, it's kind of boring. Don't misinterpret what I'm about to say here -- there's a reason Feb is our big snow month. I'm not saying it doesn't snow in Jan -- we just had a big fight in the other thread over the Jan '96 blizzard. But there have been plenty of great winters that featured cold & dry Januarys -- 2002-03 and 2009-10 come to mind. Everyone is already freaking out because it looks like we may revert back to the crap Pac pattern in Feb and maybe we will. But we're struggling to figure out the next 10-14 days, so I'm not worrying about Feb for now.
  13. 38F at midnight, currently 26F. Lots of negativity around the boards this morning. Are we canceling winter again? Asking for a friend.
  14. We’re a pretty laidback forum, but one thing that will get us swarming like hornets is attacking our Mount Holly mets.
  15. Does family member work at a CVS? Mine has a 3” accumulation of rock salt in the parking lot.
  16. Precip moved in sooner than the NAM advertised, but at 35F it’s just drip, drip, drip. In fact, it looks like the sun is trying to peek out.
  17. I don’t think we’ve had many warmagistas in the Philly forums. The NYC forum has a few. I remember asking you years ago about it and you responded that being a truck driver you don’t care for snow. I get it…stay safe!
  18. What I could never understand was Santa was tired and wanted to take Christmas off. HE WORKS ONE FRIGGIN’ DAY A YEAR!!
  19. NAM still not interested in tomorrow’s event for the Philly area.
  20. The HRRR hits us with the first slug of moisture around 8am, so it’s icy. NAM says that first round misses the Philly area to the north and we don’t see anything until 3pm when it’s just rain. Place your bets.
  21. And that’s how the Hoochie Mama blizzard of ‘22 got it’s name.
  22. You better be right, Mike. Otherwise the LV guy is going to come looking for you in 2048 demanding answers
