  1. 3km NAM suggests a significant lake effect event for Cook and Lake, IN counties, with totals likely exceeding anything from the synoptic snows
  2. Can confirm flakes are flying in downtown Chicago. Tiny dendrites though. No problem with dry air this time
  3. This. HRRR shows moderate snow in Minneapolis at intializtion.
  4. Starting to think a Lake Effect Snow Watch (or at least advisory) should be issued for Lake and Cook counties. Many people I’ve spoken to are completely unaware of any precipitation on Saturday night after the synoptic snows and will be caught completely off guard.
  5. I don’t think Glen Ellyn sees 6-10” with recent trends in the FGEN. Think it’ll be closer to 4-6” all in, LE included. I can see storm total of 6-10” by the lake where the band sets up. Even Milwaukee in line to get 6-10” if you ask me, all in. Personally I wish I was a bit further north (maybe Waukegan area), but I still like where I am, right on the lake.
  6. That’s a nice LE signal on the NAM there, very slow to rotate east. Someone in NE IL could see a lucky 6” from the lake effect alone, methinks
  7. On the 12z NAM at least still doesn’t look terrible even though main FGEN snows shift north
  8. SREF also shifted north with the heaviest FGEN snows
  9. I’m unsurprised. Think this is a major concern for our area
  10. WHoever gets in on the FGEN band will have a good time. If it happens to overlap with the lake effect, then will be an ever better time.
  11. Didn’t you literally just get a good storm dude
  12. Hey, would you be able to share LOT’s thoughts on the lake effect piece of the puzzle, considering the watch only extends through noon Saturday?
  13. I feel like this weekends storm is going to have untold impacts on this event so we’ll have no idea until Sunday.
  14. 15z SREF at ORD pulls back to about 6.5”
  15. Euro with a cyclone special for mid week storm. Lock it in
  16. They go with 4-8” ending Saturday morning. So this is not including lake effect possibilities. Wonder if they’ll issue or extend headlines for this.
  17. MKE goes with watches for southern counties and the lake shore
  18. I would like to start seeing the globals depicting a better FGEN band signal than they have been. These differences are disconcerting.
