Nice morning at Berkshire East no lines and the snow was real nice packed powder and soft machine groomed.

There are so many ski areas in New England that are bigger and more up-to-date but there’s something about that place that makes me smile.
-
Wasn’t as mushy as you would think. Pretty damn good snow considering it was close to 60° when the sun was out.
-
Pretty fantastic spring conditions at Berkshire East right now. Probably no more than 100 people or so here and it is an absolutely gorgeous sunny day. I think the rain forecast scared a lot of people away.
-
Lol, that's like 60" in 5 days.
-
Berkshire was pretty much closed yesterday so kids lesson was canceled and my buddy was up at Stratton today with morning wind holds and lots of ice. Hopefully things turn around after next weekend. High dews will not be welcomed though.
-
He'll catch on.

Brutal weekend for skiers in CNE/SNE, rain yesterday howling wind gusts today.
-
It’s ironic because they had the earliest opening ever due to good temperatures in November and a great start to December and now January is the meh’ month. Luckily the Greenfield recreation department ski program will give us a rain check if tomorrow is lousy.
-
Taking my kid to B'East the next 4 Saturdays for lessons and some turns for me and the wife. Expecting meh' conditions in the rain tomorrow but I'll still get some runs in.
-
Their earliest opening evah'!

1) Blizzard of 78 (I was 10 and school was cancelled for a week!) 2) April Fool s 97 (Awesomeness!) 3) January 2005 Blizzard (30"+ in Cambridge) 4) October 2011 Snow Storm (Freak storm) 5) Hurricane Irene (Western New England flooding was surreal) Runner up: Feb 2013 I've had several personal severe weather episodes that have been personally mind blowing but were isolated so I went with the historic stuff.

Oh' I was guessing Tahoe.

So well done!

That's what you should tell them. -

Maybe a Met could explain to me the dynamics out here. I understand the reasons the valley did poorly even under that great band all day but how come the high elevation spots out here didn't do very well either? Radar said it was snowing hard for hours but highest total in Franklin Co. was 11" and most 1000' + locales were less than that. -

MPM made the right choice going to Maine. Probably only 8-9" at his house in Shelburne according to my friend up that way. -

Just make sure you replace it with the real thing ASAP otherwise you are risking your gearbox. -

That I-91 banding was wasted on the Valley, it probably would have much better served the hill towns to the east or west. The Euro QPF was probably pretty close to reality out here, .6-.7" is what it showed consistently. We wasted a lot to poor growth and thermal profiles that were likely a degree or two higher than modeled. -

I made two measurements today on a cleared picnic table to come up with my 6" but only have 4.5" otg. Anybody measuring on pavement or waiting all day is probably under reporting what they got in the valley.
