  1. Downtown would flood badly if this slows to a crawl as some models show. My guess would be minimal loss of life due to sufficient lead time with warnings but billions in insurance claims.
  2. Clear sky and at an ideal degree I guess? It was quite impressive and lasted over a minute. We watched it go from the big white jellyfish shape to a little red dot, so I assume that is when the booster disengaged? It was a chatty ride home with my kid, that's for sure.
  3. Thanks. When I did a quick search all I had found was the cancellation of the Artemis launch. It was cool to catch, especially because none of us knew what it was. I've never seen anything like it in person.
  4. Did anybody else see this moving across the southern horizon around 7:30 PM? I was at a country ice cream stand in Bernardston with about 10 other people and we all just stood there amazed. It tracked across the sky from West to East a good minute or so and then completely disappeared.
  5. Low of 38° here. Radiator delight last night. Still only 46° at 9am.
  6. Weather up on those ridges is as intense as it gets in the Northeast. I've seen it snow on the Bigelow range in June.
  7. Good luck my friend, glad you are there and had a window to chase this one. I'm very interested since I have family in Halifax.
  8. Yeah, that’s significant because Halifax- Dartmouth area is filled with older houses in tree lined neighborhoods in full leaf out.
  9. The Canadian Maritimes have a massive hurricane-hybrid storm incoming and there’s more chatter on here about a fantasy storm that has very little chance of impacting New England.
  10. My in-laws are in Dartmouth. What are your feelings about the Halifax-Dartmouth area? seems like they will be spared the worst of the winds? Y
  11. Just like that, brilliant blue skies, temperatures in the low 60s.
  12. Blue sky to the west now. Not home to check the gauge but two good rounds of rain today. Definitely well over 7” on the month now.
  13. Wow, I got 1.4” I am up with caffeine insomnia at 2am and it’s still drizzling moisture out of the trees.
  14. Up to 1.2” from three separate downpours today. That’s close to 6” rain here since September 6. Impressive since there were lots of sunny, dry days in between.
  15. Picked up half inch of rain in about 15 minutes earlier. Still some pretty good puddles downtown.
  16. Heroin and opiates are everywhere. It's more hidden in some cities than others but most big towns in New England and the Northeast in general have a problem that is not getting better. A family that we are friends with, helped start the Franklin Co Opiod Task Force years ago, so I hear first hand about the problems in Massachusetts and beyond. I was at a show in Hartford last month talking to a few Hartford cops about it. They said kids from VT and NH can drive down to Hartford and get heroin for $5/bag and then flip it for twice that back home. Even worse, because firearms access is much looser up North they trade guns for big packets of heroin to resell or use. The town I live in has worked very hard to come face to face with the problem and address the many challenges of stemming use, stopping supply chains and getting people help.
  17. They would need hundred man rosters to compensate for injuries if they played twice a week.
  18. Low of 42° House was brisk this morning with windows open overnight.
