  1. Great, CT can have the rain, I'm happy in Steinville.
  2. Any info on how things are on Hilton Head Island? Got some family there.
  3. I’m already seeing some dramatic foliage change in W MA. A lot of purple leaves.
  4. Ya' I'm ready to switch to cold around Nov 15th.
  5. Same. My brother and SIL bought a house there last year and went down this week to do some work. They are not leaving, they are not on the water but certainly not far from tidal marshes.
  6. A lot of the models want to recharge Ian over the Atlantic and bring it into Hilton Head area.
  7. Pretty impressive precipitation bands N of Ian's center. Should be some incredible rain totals the next 24 hours.
  8. We just heard from our relatives in Cape Coral and they are shaken but OK. Their neighborhood is flooded but knee deep not head deep. However, I am uncertain if water levels are still rising in that area or not?
  9. It's not out of the question that Orlando takes more damage than Tampa from Ian. Who would have guessed?
  10. I am extremely concerned since we have cousins there. I can’t fathom why they didn’t leave.
  11. Ian will be a good lesson in why you don't build coastal cities on sea level marshlands.
  12. I’m just catching up, so sorry if it’s been covered but how far inland are hurricane gusts expected? All the way to Orlando?
  13. There has already been some decent rains tonight, to areas due E and W of Lake Okeechobee.
  14. Nice dry period coming up. Perfect for leaf season in WNE.
  15. Yeah, I am ignorant of what Tampa can handle in terms of 24 hour rain totals but 8-10" looks to be quite possible. Even though they look to avoid the brunt of the hurricane force winds, I would imagine they will still have significant power outages based on the size of the TS wind field?
  16. I didn't realize Florida had a big gypsum industry. That's not good. It's easy to overlook all of the potential toxins that flood waters can spread and deposit. 15"-20" of rain falling in short order, on a grossly over developed wetlands, has no good outcome potential.
  17. Inland hydro issues will become a big story me thinks. Especially if Ian pulls off some of the higher end model projections.
  18. Even if the winds are not that bad, 15"+ of rain for Orlando, would probably be somewhat problematic.
  19. I agree with you that it may wobble a little N again. Northport LF is bad news for Fort Meyers and not great for Sarasota.
  20. Man, if models keep trending Ian south it will be heading into the Everglades by the 0z runs. If this comes in under Naples it is pretty much a bullet dodge for all of the populated areas of the W Coast. Rain could obviously still be an issue.
  21. Bad for Ft Meyers and Sarasota but certainly not great for Tampa either.
  22. I would have done the same. You missed a lot of scoring though. Looks like nice day shaping up here.
