And many cities/towns have watering restrictions which limit the amount of watering that can be done. I know people who have had their wells run dry and they have not been watering their lawns. I also know a few people who are having water delivered to preserve their wells. A lot of people do take great pride in their property/home. As you know repairing extensive lawn damage can be expensive. And even in the best of situations it may not work all that well. I agree with you on it being important to some people.

How does the period 18-20 compare to the past history of tornadoes in CT?

JB and Cranky are in different camps. JB thinks a cat 4 is possible. Cranky thinks the potential is capped and will remain a Cat 2.

I have attended a lot of Fisher Cats games in Manchester. The hills to the west of Manchester always seemed to be an initiation point for storms. The worst part is there isn't a good place to take shelter at the stadium.

And there are ways to mitigate the risk for frozen pipes. The water can be shut off and the pipes drained. Old timers would do that and then poor some alcohol(some plumbers recommend using non toxic antifreeze) down the drains and into toilets. Some would use sterno to help keep pipes warm. In 2018 a friend got through a power outage by using a solar powered generator and some heating tape to prevent pipes from freezing. . And he also used a set of portable solar panels to help keep other devices charged. He used a few large coolers to preserve much of the food his family had on hand.
