  1. But maybe snow? Why not? It has been super wacky the past two years.
  2. Nothing like up in NVA or MD, but did set a new daily rainfall with 1.62 inches, broke old mark of 1.07 from 2004. Hope all are OK up that way!! Actually have a few flakes falling and down into upper 30's. I went from 53.5 to 40.4 in less than 90 minutes early this am.
  3. Shattered the warm minimum here, low was 50.6, old record was 39, YES 39! from 1986. Only a 11 degree change.......records go back to Oct 1979.
  4. So...it's not for kids. Right?
  5. Travel hockey was the same when son was playing.....
  6. So you'd like 60-70 in summer and around 0 in winter with snow? May I suggest Summit County CO???? If it hits 75-80 they go into full blown panic there!
  7. Nothing says winter better than going to bed at 1 am to 44 degrees and waking up at 5:30 to 56 degrees........ sheesh.
  8. January 2020 number my location Total liquid for the month was 3.44 inches vs a normal of 2.77 inches, a +0.67 above average. There were 14 days with measurable, 4 days with a T and 13 dry days. The greatest rainfall was on the 25th with 1.47 inches. There was 3.0 inches of snow measured for the month vs a normal of 7.0 inches, a -4.0 below average. The greatest snowfall was the only measurable on the 8th with 3.0 inches. There were also 6 days with a T and 24 days without snowfall during the month. The average high was 45.9 degrees vs a normal of 42.5 degrees, a +3.4 above average. The warmest day was on the 12th with a 64.5 degree reading. The average low of 28.8 degrees vs a normal 21.8 degrees, a +7.0 above average. The coolest reading was on the 21st with a 10.1 degree reading. The overall averaged temp was 37.3 degrees vs a normal of 32.1 degrees, a +5.2 degrees above average and 4th warmest during my record keeping. Highest wind recorded during the month was 41 mph on the 17th. There were two new records, both on the 12th, a new record high of 64.5 degrees and a new record warm minimum of 51.2 degrees.
  9. I'll second Bob's picks. I go there 30-40 days a year now. It is an awesome (but sadly crowded) place. DEFINITELY do the snowmobiling, I highly recommend!! Stay in Dillion or Silverthorne, places are cheaper than Breck. You can get around in a car, but traffic in ski season isn't fun. They have free buses that run 6am-11pm county wide. Most run on a 15 or 30 minute schedule if you don't wish to drive. The pass over 6 is as he describes, beautiful. Copper can be a pain to get to, they are right off 70 and I have seen both off lanes backed up onto 70 with people trying to get in during the AM. Keystone and Breck have a nice mix of runs, if you are a good skier Abasin can provide some fun and challenging runs.
  10. OOPS!!! DCA +0.5 NYC: +0.3 BOS: -0.3 ORD -1.1 ATL +1.3 IAH +0.8 DEN -0.5 PHX -0.7 SEA -1.1
  11. Second day in a row for snow falling from the sky, least it LOOKS like winter......
  12. Had snizzle and flurries off and on most of morning and early afternoon, never did more than coat hard surfaces though.
  13. But, but I can't. I got on the other side of the wall in Dec 2018! But 2016/2017 and 2019/2020 (so far) have been stinkers! 2016/2017 6.4 2017/2018 21.5 2018/2019 35.2 2019/2020 3.5 historical avg is 27.6 inches
  14. WWA issued for my area for late tonight into morning for a mix of junk. Maybe we can get the ground white......
  15. And head straight for the chompers!!
  16. Well, guess what I'm now watching.....
  17. Another excellent movie...JMO
  18. '16/'17 was horrific here, 6.4 inches. But even including that, a + - 29 inch average over those years here.
  19. Hey! Look at that, just crossed over the 32 mark. Yesterday's high was 33.7, about 2.5 hours above freezing. The day before never made freezing at 29.5 degrees for a high. Actually feels like winter in the middle of this Mayuary. Peribonca, I haven't worn a coat HERE this winter yet, but in Colorado I did 2 days when it was 10 for a high and -13 one morning and -8 the other.
  20. Mappy is pretty 'in', I'm sure she has seen the greatest hockey movie ever made
  21. Like the bus scene from Slapshot maybe?
  22. ALMOST had first single digit night here, low was 10.1 degrees.....10.5/8.2 now with a NNW wind at 5, making WC 1.7 degrees.
  23. I will second this. We used to go up there 2-3 times a year, almost bought a place in Lyndon, VT. Traffic in Conway is terrible in summer. Have you given any thought to the Berlin/Gorham area? Yeah, it has a semi bad rap. But they have turned a corner and are at least steady on the population. Plus they run like 85% of average on costs and get about 90 inches of snow a year. We looked at it back in 2000 or so, but things weren't looking so hot back then. You are within an hour drive of most ski places, about 3 hours from Boston and 2 hours from Portland. You just have to wrap your head around the idea that it is/was an industrial town. Same with Rumford/Mexico Maine.
