  1. As it stands, I can't see the wave doing much unless it clears the area of 30 KTS wind shear currently sitting in the Straits of Florida. That being said, the models have been shifting more westerly the last few runs. This would give the wave a shot at reaching very favorable conditions. Again, thats if it holds together. Lot of "ifs" there.
  2. Kind of surprised that there have been no posts about Elsa in 15+ hrs. It may no longer be a hurricane, but it is still a strong weather event that is impacting millions of people in a negative way. For sake of discussion, are the tornados being generated typical in volume and intensity? Also, is there any thoughts as to why Elsa has remained so persistant?
  3. Is Elsa going to pull another Isaias? Nothing much as TS goes, but moving at such a pace that it effectively adds strength? Isaias was NOT fun in NJ...7+ days of no power due to all the downed lines.
  4. I shudder to think of the destruction Delta will bring considering the massive volume of water Gamma dumped on the Yucatan. Even in its post tropical state the NHC forecast calls for an additional 8 inches of rain in some regions.
  5. So can they break tradition and give both storms female names as a nod to Dee Snider?
  6. Onlsow Bay Outer (Station 41159) buoy wave height (WVHT) in feet and Average Wave Period (AVP) in seconds, showing Florence approach to the NC coast. https://www.ndbc.noaa.gov/station_page.php?station=41159 09 13 0000 - WVHT 7.5 ft - AVP 6.7 sec 09 13 0600 - WVHT 8.9 ft - AVP 7.0 sec 09 13 1200 - WVHT 18 ft - AVP 9.9 sec 09 13 1400- WVHT 23.9 ft - AVP 10.2 sec 09 13 1600 - WVHT 22.6 ft - AVP 9.6 sec
  7. What is causing the front / line of clouds that has formed to the west of Florence? I am curious as it is moving in a north westerly direction: https://www.star.nesdis.noaa.gov/GOES/GOES16_sector_band.php?sector=eus&band=GEOCOLOR&length=24 With Disturbance 1 pushing north, and a continuing easterly flow coming off of Florida, it seems to me that Florence would follow the front/cloud line I'm asking about. EDIT: had the air flow off Florida moving the wrong direction. Corrected.
