I have a fellow weather weenie friend whose last name is Bernstein. The Bernstein Effect is a well documented phenomenon....when he leaves SWCT in the winter, we get a blizzard. He is going to Vail last week of February into early March. I have pegged 2/28 as blizzard day....this isn't over!
If we had a 4,000' foot mountain in Trumbull it would have been a nice thump. But it's OK, the main body over PA will get here soon...to be greeted by the mild air.
The tic between 12z and 18z pretty sizeable. The whole operation is more sheared, with the trough more positively tilted, we need one more like that...or does that make the damn thing too weak to draw the cold air? No winning this year.
I recall two 3" sleet storms that year. And I'll tell you, 3" of sleet is as much of a winter driving/shoveling problem as 12" of snow...maybe more so!
