  1. Here comes my round 2. Beginning as sleet in Longview. 2-3" of snow/sleet followed by 0.1"-0.2" freezing rain seems likely. Hopefully more snow and less ice.

I took a drive around town tonight. As expected, the roads are horrible. Still pretty manageable with 4wd, but roadways and especially intersections are becoming very icy as vehicles have continued driving on them.

My parents outside Longview already have a sheet of ice on their driveway tonight. I lived there 25 years and don’t think I ever saw a sub 10 degree day so they’re in for rare territory this next week. Best wishes to all down there, things are built for that cold and snow.

I'll have to step outside to see what it's like now, but I had to help a friend out tonight and there was ice forming on my bed cover. When I got in my truck to the second time is when I noticed more ice on the door handle and mirror. Roads/sidewalks were fine but that's been about 4 hours ago.

And now 0Z GFS is showing me at -6 Tue morning with WC of -18. The ICON and GFS have been the most consistent models on this event so I have to give them credence but sheesh.

I'm going to have to keep my faucets on steady drip/stream when I leave Thursday and return Monday... If that's even possible. I'm trying to travel to SW IA on Thursday and return to NE TX on Monday...

With these trends I'm not sure if that will be possible..

  4. Very boring weather pattern. But it has been outstanding fall weather. Looks to be in the 70's for the next week. Only a slight chance of rain early next week but doesn't look like it will amount to much.

When will it change? GFS says there could be a few chances for some precip over the next 16 days, but mostly only for the eastern half of the state. Nothing looks very significant/widespread. Texas could use some moisture.
