  1. No problem. Maybe I was being to picayune.
  2. Actually a little higher than that in the immediate metro area, 63 Central Park and 64 Newark, 62 Islip. But to your point it is already 60 in Central Park, although a lot of the more rural areas are quite a bit chillier.
  3. 52 degrees this morning, a little chillier than I thought it would get.
  4. 46 my low. One good thing about these mild conditions this fall, keeps the heating bills down as the price for oil skyrockets.
  5. Yes I saw a rainbow in my area, looking toward the north shore area.
  6. Hunter Mountain in the Catskills is already dropping to the upper 30s, keep the scattered showers going long enough and maybe some of the high elevations can see some snow mix in.
  7. Monticello NY has light rain and 44 degrees currently.
  8. I like what someone recently said, that Kennedy is a good temperature representation for those going to the beach, Newark is good for those going to the city and Central Park a good representation for those going to the park. They all have their place. Considering there is no foliage on the trees during mid winter, why not use Central Park. Of course this time of year that foliage makes a difference for daytime highs.
  9. Central Park is 57, White Plains 56, Islip 58 and Kennedy and LaGuardia 59. 59 degrees here.
  10. Not for you or me but if it is clear and no wind, those colder suburbs north and west will see it. Some did last night.
  11. One good thing, to me, about a mild fall, it makes the winter seem shorter. Cold falls make for long winters.
  12. The 48 degrees this morning in Tallahassee Florida is colder than Boston.
  13. Upper 40s in my area this morning. I see a few areas in New Jersey have dipped into the upper 30s. With clear skies and no wind tonight, I would not be surprised some of those areas get frost tonight.
  14. After a high today of 63, already down to 53 here.
  15. If the colder suburbs don't get a frost tomorrow night, this coming weekend looks good for them to get a frost or freeze.
  16. It was only 6 years ago that Central Park experienced a very cold January and February, the coldest since 1934.
  17. Maybe they said that in Texas last year.
  18. After the cool down starting tonight and lasting thru Tuesday morning, the mild weather returns but not nearly as warm as this week. Looks like 60s or low 70s in the day and 40s and 50s at night. Pretty nice. Maybe some frost Monday night in the coldest places.
  19. 72 degrees here, clouds moving in and wind gusting to 22mph off the water.
  20. My stats were from 2000-2021. That would mean LGA actually fell .3 degrees from the 1991-2020 period. JFk went up .2 in the same time frames. Islip also fell in the 2000-2021 time frame compared to 1990-2020 by some .4 degrees. Central Park fell .3 also. Newark stayed about the same. Sounds like the 1990s were very mild January. Station 2000-2021 1990-2020 JFK 33 32.8 LGA 34.1 34.4 ISP 31.5 31.9 EWR 32.8 32.8 NYC 33.4 33.7 I understand my stats are not a 30 yr time frame. I got them off the NWS site and they listed the 2000-2021 time frame. Interesting that JFK is the only station of the immediate metro area that rose.
  21. I just find it interesting that JFK would have an average January temperature colder than LaGuardia. It would be like Oceanside having a colder January average than say Oyster Bay. If it is radiational cooling then maybe the thermometer at JFK is in a more secluded area than LaGuardia, like in the heat island affect.
  22. Just saying these temperatures at this time of year around here may be nice but are not normal.
  23. Looks like Monday many areas may stay in the 50s, about time.
  24. So your saying the heat island affect.
