  1. A little radiational cooling sending temperatures in the cold inland areas, well down into the teens and even some single digits, before the mild air moves in.
  2. So far this month my average is a high of 33.4 and a low of 14.4. That is an average of 23.9 I should take a picture before those wintry temperatures turn much more mild.
  3. The worst of the cold was just a little northeast of our area. Some of the temperatures on the coast to our north and east are really as low as I can remember seeing. Below zero at coastal locations on Cape Cod, Nantucket, eastern Ct. and Rhode Island. Zero at Montauk, -9 in Boston.
  4. Mine is 33 feet in the air and it still gets affected by trees with a NW wind. My peak gust is 33mph. `I also have a vantage vue that is only 6 feet in the air and that has a peak gust of only 20mph.
  5. This amazes me and for anyone interested. Currently on Mt. Washington Temperature -40 degrees and the wind is 100mph. The humidity is 79% with freezing fog.
  6. For those who want real winter, start driving to Caribou Maine. Scattered snow showers, mainly after 8pm. Widespread blowing snow after 3am. Mostly cloudy, with a low around -8. Breezy, with a south wind 13 to 20 mph becoming west after midnight. Winds could gust as high as 33 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%. Friday Isolated snow showers before 8am. Widespread blowing snow. Mostly sunny and cold, with a temperature falling to around -16 by 5pm. Wind chill values as low as -44. Breezy, with a west wind 18 to 21 mph, with gusts as high as 36 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%. Friday Night Widespread blowing snow. Partly cloudy, with a low around -24. Wind chill values as low as -56. Windy, with a west wind 22 to 26 mph, with gusts as high as 45 mph.
  7. Cental Park reporting 35 degrees with light snow.
  8. This has really been the perfect storm for breaking records in NYC. First the snow record, just about everyone got a little snow in December but not Central Park, probably because of the heat island. Then the cold, which like turning on a switch, arrives just as January ends.
  9. I am currently at 40.6 for the month.
  10. I was hoping that would happen in Central Park but to warm. That would have been an unexpected surprise if they got .01 of an inch.
  11. Same here. Blue sky to the south and dark to the north, now moving more east.
  12. Yeah that makes sense to me.
