  1. Looks like the low is down to 980, cranking out in the Atlantic right now. Around a foot of snow in OC. Well done, eastern shore…well done.
  2. without blocking (nao is still positive), may just need to find a sw or clipper type system on the heels of one of these systems because there is cold air available.
  3. https://weather.cod.edu/satrad/nexrad/index.php?parms=DOX-N0Q-1-24-100-usa-rad
  4. latest nam did kind of shift a little east. still solid for the coast though. edit: on second thought, pretty negligible.
  5. i think the idea is that it phases with the upper level energy in time. the low is definitely out in the gulf stream, but there's still quite a bit of mid level energy to get wrapped into it. http://www.meteo.psu.edu/fxg1/SFCUS/last.html
  6. edit: the hornets are no longer dominating the lakers. good game in progress.
  7. this event reminds a lot of what i experienced in deep creek several years ago...basically a long duration snizzle that accumulates better than you'd expect.
  8. this thread is 87 pages long, so i'm going to post... currently consuming jefferson's at sea and chasing it with a guinness draught while watching the hornets dominate the lakers. also, i use youtubetv and don't have twc...but i do have weathernation. gonna put them to the test this storm to see what kind of coverage they provide.
  9. prob mentioned already, but surface low already formed off the coast of the carolinas...just wish it was 50 miles west.
  10. Getting a coating here as temps drop. Need to run an errand. Looking slicker though.
  11. Looks like some added lift at h5 moves through this evening which may enhance things along the corridor. We shall see…
  12. Yea it’s pretty light here now and roads just wet. My friend near olney confirmed the same. Miller Bs…what can ya do lol.
  13. i'm right on the northwest edge of that band between downtown frederick and germantown. very showery system so far. hopefully that builds north a bit, but i'm not overly confident in that.
  14. i was just kidding about the accumulation part then. guess rates are important lol.
  15. not really accumulating much here. been inside all day because my current project is tedious, but there were some calls by posters here about temps being a potential issue today for accumulation and that's been nailed. great call so far on that. still some solid snow tv here. gonna step outside and see what's going on.
  16. i have somehow maintained flurries here. this is very reminiscent of those periodic gloomy days we get in fall/spring with the atlantic sprinkles that cover the entire windshield, but barely accumulate. misty snow for lack of a better term.
  17. sun is peeking through here which is usually an indication of a broken system lol. we'll see what happens when the rest of the energy rotates through.
  18. my bar is low, but it is firmly in the steady light snow category here. i'd be ok with a few hours of this.
  19. been busy this morning, but visibility is actually pretty low looking towards the catoctins. best way to describe the rate here is a pleasant light snow.
  20. few flakes falling up here now. probably more exciting at the ridge tops, but flaking nonetheless.
  21. i used to get like that growing up...pissed off if it didn't snow or there was a bust, but there are some annoyances to constant cold and too much snow. i know that's an unpopular opinion here, but i like shooting hoops and biking...can't do that when it's too cold or when there's 1-2 feet of snow. i would try to find reasons why you wouldn't want it to snow and/or just consider moving to a place that does. we're not a great snow town. i don't care what anyone says on that. our averages are skewed by the blizzards we get by having the gulf and atlantic to tap into, but our average high in january is low 40s, not low 30s. it also helps to chase. i got skunked from the first storm that hit dc so i drove down to bethesda and got my quick fix. another thing that helps is redirecting your energy from a near miss storm towards trying to understand why it happened.
  22. I still want to try Weller. I don’t even know where to find one. Prob would need to visit Buffalo trace distillery, which is on my list of to do’s.
