We're leaving in a few minutes. Looks like that's where we'll have to go to see snow. Not a flake here. Our driver said he was swapping vehicles because he was "concerned". LOL. I guess he'll get an extra bottle of booze for Christmas. Come eat with us if you're still in town!
I appreciate the offer but I have the kids this evening and they would terrorize Ruth Chris lol. We will have to get together whenever you are back in town sometime or I'm up that way. Maybe have a glass of scotch.

Hey Joe its pouring the snow in Biltmore lol.

At work today, and the rain/snow mix is finally transitioning to all snow in the snow hole that is Canton. N/NE winds picking up as well.
Yeah Finally. We will see how this thing works out.

All snow here. Temps are slowly dropping and the snow line is dropping as well.

Filtered sunshine here and just went above freezing for the first time in 7 days. Not a flake. Canceled a lot of plans for nothing so we're going to try to have a little treat. Made reservations for 8:30 at RuthChris in Biltmore with some friends to salvage the weekend. Nothing like a big medium-rare t-bone to forget about it! Congrats to those that are seeing snow!
Lol I'm headed to the biltmore estates currently.

Euro is bad news folks. It also has the dreaded warm nose all the way to Hickory. +1 at 700mb. Damn.
AVL liquid on Euro is 1.90" and we lose some to sleet/rain. First run in 5 days to show reduced snow amounts.
Not good trends today.

We have a bit of a mix here in Haywood. If this is going to be more of a CAD event then we are screwed in Haywood but this is only beginning so as posted above I'll take my dose of patience lol.
-
Well its now casting from now on pretty much. Whatever it does it does. Rain, snow, sleet whatever it is will be.

Did y’all see Andy woods storm prediction totals for the storm in the main thread?
Did he pop in? He posted some on FB about the storm.

Anyone thinking we could see blizzard warnings go up for some?
You know I'm not sure if we will get the wind and the heavy snow long enough for a blizzard verification but I do think we will see blizzard conditions intermittently.

Exactly. It's getting tough to track in the main threads. It's either too far north for some folks, too far south for others, too warm for many, then I realize it's just right for WNC. Lol.
I think I'll just hang out here and see what HT has to say.
Yeah everyone is excited or nervous. Not us. We will get ours. Damn its good to be back!

GFS looks good for the northern mtns. I think in general, all of WNC will do great.
My same sentiments. I think most of WNC is looking great. This is looking like a great storm for sure. The good snowman making kind.

I’ll be heading to the cabin rental on black mountain in a few hours. Super pumped. My wife has never seen more than 2 inches with the exception of our ski trips out west.
Wow she is in for a treat. Snow in the mountains is special especially a big one like this.

My biggest question at this point is do I have enough room to pack the old Flexible Flyer in the car? I am very excited for this snowventure to begin! And for me, that happens in about an hour when I aim the car northward towards Lake Lure. Woohoo, we're about to have some fun ya'll!
Nice! Safe travels.

Pinch me, I will be headed to AVL tomorrow very early- if they get over 18" (and that seems to be a growing consensus) it will be the biggest snow storm ever there- also I have never personally seen that much snow in one storm.
You should be in a prime spot for this one. Actually I think most of the mountains could get a foot plus.
-
Looks great for just about everyone. Here in Haywood things look dang good. Shoot anything over a foot is bonus to me.

Things are definately coming into better focus this morning and this is looking like the storm we all hoped for before all of the confusion yesterday evening.
Curious though, on GSP's latest snow map they have most of Haywood County in the 10+ inch range. Yet right now, we are under a Winter Storm Watch with the discussion calling for 1-8 inches. In all my years of experiencing these type of storm set ups here, the Balsams will get hammered. Won't be surprised to see some 20+ reports around here by the time this is all said and done.
Enjoy the ride y'all!
I wouldn't worry about that at all. When they issue a WSW they will adjust that number. But really we all know probably what is going to happen.
