Yep that and the fact that the CAD is overperforming. Rain has been drying up at the GA SC line all day until just the last couple of hours because of that. Most of Al and GA have had tons of rain, but we will not be getting nearly as much. If this trend continues, the drought will become centered over the Carolinas as time goes on.
Yeah cad had been killing it today. Hardly any northwardmovement of precip. Sometimes the cad really sucks.

Even the rain predicted for tonight is not looking to last nearly as long as forecast over NC and SC. Hopefully this isn't the start of trend towards much drier, but I'm afraid it could very well be. Hopefully it'll at least be warm if it has to be dry. Cold and dry is just awful.
I think it convective feedback issues. We saw some big storms along the Gulf that has robbed moisture from moving further north.

Starting to look my Jan forecast is going to hold up. This thing will trend into a sunny weekend before it is over.

When the GFS goes supressed in about an hour, it's gonna be mass weenie suicide!! Maybe the CMC won't move toward the Euro!?? I think it's up next? Or not
Lol! Weenies taking the dive!

Actually mirrors the latest GFS. Looks awful for western areas. I'm not liking that trend.
The GEFS members look pretty good.

Weeklies are ridiculous the last week of Jan into Feb. Cold/snowy...like the GFS model. Fantasy models....
Not bad. Only 4 weeks out. Thanks pack.

Lol I like it when the mods get feisty!

It was never not over. We haven't had suppression in 10 years, now all of a sudden there's a chance of a widespread blockbuster and it snows at the beach instead. How very climo of you, mother nature. E NC is destroying me in snowfall the past 15 years.
Lol go figure. Something we usually never have a problem with. Shoot do we still have a negative NAO even? Lol only this winter.

We can be warm with blocking and crappy pac (+EPO/-PNA)...ala 2013. To be honest, I really thought/think the PDO will flex sometime this winter, probably later in Jan into Feb. But, that's probably wishful thinking....
Oh I know but it's a good sign. I actually think if we get this storm then we will be ahead of the curve.

Yeah...I think it's going to be warm day 10...all the ensembles agree on that. I think if the pattern changes it will be after the 20th. Though if the -EPO holds then we can get more cold fronts that swing through.
The ao looks to take a significant dive also.

It's always disconcerting when the CMC shows a snowstorm several days out.

Lol the meltdowns! This storm is very complex to say the least. We will see more changes no doubt.
