    Temps dropping off fast. Down to 46 degrees already.

    Gfs still advertising some high elevation flakes for tomorrow morning. After today the temp is going to plunge.

    Just got home and the wind is ripping and pouring the rain. Definitely can tell this is from a tropical storm.

    Yeah not much wind but has been absolutely hammering rainfall all morning. At work but I know I've got to be well over 2 inches here now. And more on the way.

    For the southern mountains and escarpment brace yourself for some torrential rainfall coming in.

    A very wet night and day yesterday. Have already received 1.5 inches of rainfall which is something we have definitely needed. And the heaviest of the rainfall is still to come. Looks like another 1 to 3 inches according to the models. As for snow chances I think that is going to be for the border countys only and only light snow at that but it's only November. This is definitely a pattern change for sure.

    Steady rainfall all day and doesn't look to stop. Really glad to see a nice slow steady rain after such a dry Fall.

    What a 45 minute drive makes in weather. At home in Haywood it's been raining all morning with very low clouds and here in Asheville there is blue sky.

    NAM has some decent totals still but the GFS has some 4 plus inches along the southern escarpment. So a range of 2 to 4 inches from the GFS.

    00z gfs lays down a solid 1.5 to 3.5 inches of rainfall starting tomorrow. I absolutely love seeing this.

    Also looks like we are going to get some region wide beneficial rainfall also.

    Had a low of 30 this morning and a high of 55. A huge change from a couple days ago.

    Euro and GFS have some subtle changes in the pattern with different time frames. Interesting to see these two not agree even a few days out. This usually means a big change in the pattern.

    The 6z is even wetter from the subtropical lows moisture. That would be awesome even if we get half that.

    I will say the overnight models are showing lot's of beneficial rainfall for us the next 4 to 5 days.

    Yeah im not buying that looks from the euro.

    Yeah I'd like to see a lot of rainfall from the tropical system. We need it and would clamp down on the fire danger. We are going to get cold for sure. The coldest weather of the season but the second push and the little system from the gulf is questionable. The EURO now wants to hold back the energy out west and pump up the SER. The 18z gfs want to have back to back pushes of cold with wintery precipitation in here. It's a bit early in the season but we'll see how things evolve.

    Yeah this weather is crap here... Luckily changes on the way for tomorrow night and especially into the weekend. Yeah the mountain west out there are getting hammered with feet of snow. Good for them.

    Thanks Jeff for this. Great analysis as always. I do think we may actually see more of a pronounced pattern change in December but this is a warning shot. I could be wrong though...

    Big changes on the way for the end of this next week. A huge cold shot for sure. Will be a shock to the system.

    Yeah hopefully this year will be different. We have seen cold weather and snow already here so we can have good patterns for several weeks. I think we will see something nice for December.
