First measurable event of the season. Too bad I do not measure anything. Under the heavier returns the ground and roads got covered. Now that the returns have moved off to the east the roads are going to slush and clear quite quickly. But it was a white winterland out there for an hour or so.

Maybe the last post here of the year? The time of year and weather will soon limit my ability to add any more. So for something completely different, a sunrise. When I got out to the fairgrounds. 69 at KIND also. Was glorious outside today. Glad it was a day off for me . But this is beyond normal. The correction when it comes is going to hurt when it gets here.

Some cirrus was in the western sky for the sunset this evening. When I got in front of the firehouse, pre-sunset. Taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm... Close to local sunset. Taken with the 24-70mm at 57mm... Close to max color dynamics. Taken with the 24-70mm at 52mm... Max red of the post sunset, on the horizon. Taken with the 100mm... Cheers!

Going to split today into two. Starting off with the midday cirrus. Looking northwest at the cirrus with some classic mares-tails going on. Taken with the 16-35mm at 18mm... Using the stop sign as a Sun shield. Taken with the 16-35mm at 16mm... A small parhelia or sun-dog on the east side of the Sun. Taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm...

The Moon and Venus emerging from the post sunset gloom this evening...

^ Just so you know, us sky cover weenies appreciate that the NWS always tries to be accurate. I would think that a snow weenie would at least understand that other people obsess over clouds just like snow.

KIND stayed up to 34 this morning but was the first heavy visible frost morning around the area.

I had hoped that with a slight disturbance rotating through the area around sunset that it might time out well. It was close but the best color/visuals were post sunset with the incidental light. Looking southeast and at the firehouse... Looking southwest and the receding color... Cheers!

Maybe they can roll out 89% relative humidity just for you and the occasion.

Cool rain on a northeast flow. I'd rather take a pass but it is what it is.

So far 1.33" in the tippy bucket from this morning and afternoon. Started to get some ponding in the fields just as the rain rain slacked off for this lull. So far no problems with the amount of rain. But that could change if/when the better dynamics get here and if we get the same amount in a much shorter time frame.

Rush job after work to grab the camera and head to the firehouse. Looking east when I got there. Did not notice till I downloaded that there was some anti-crepuscular rays going on just above the barn. Taken with the 16-35mm at 25mm... First look to the west. Taken with the 24-70mm at 35mm... Some virga looking to the southwest. Taken with the 24-70mm at 45mm... What little red there as to the west with some more virga. Taken with the 24-70mm at 58mm... Had a weak open wave transit the area today. Gave some perfect clouds. Started off around noon when the wave approached the area. Looking almost straight up at the cirrus. Taken with the 16-35mm at 16mm... When I got out to behind the firehouse for the sunset. Some nice crepuscular rays/cloud shadows that only look like the tree is causing. Taken with the 16-35mm at 35mm... And the post sunset colors starts. The yellow. taken with the 16-35mm at 29mm... The orange. taken with the 24-70mm at 51mm... And ending the night with the max color dynamics/ start of the red. Taken with the 24-70mm at 51mm... Good night my darlin' where ever you are...

I have no idea where or how this slim band of cirrus came to be around sunset? Lake effect clouds? The dry air killed it rather rapidly as the sunset progressed. Just surprised it as there at all. Looking west from up on Hall-Baker road when I got to the firehouse. Taken with the 16-35mm at 16mm... Looking south once I relocated to the grass behind the firehouse. Taken with the 16-35mm at 23mm... As the post sunset started. Taken with the 16-35mm at 23mm... The last remaining piece of cirrus. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm...

Took all of the outdoor hoses off of the spigots. Put on all the spigot insulators and hung the hoses up inside the garage till Spring rolls back around. Bring on the cold air, I guess.

I did not know what to expect with this sunset. With the inversion lifting off to the east was not sure if there would be any clouds around. Looking east as I got to the grass area behind the firehouse. Taken with the 16-35mm at 30mm... Just a few smudges of low level clouds glowing orange as the Sun got close to the horizon. Taken with the 24-70mm at 58mm... Fortunately the next wave over towards Missouri was pumping some cirrus into the western sky. Taken with the 24-70mm at 46mm... There was a smattering of red but it as all towards the south and the on-ramp for the interstate was kind of in the way where I was. Taken with the 24-70mm at 70mm... Cheers!

Tried a new spot this evening. In past views to the east you can see an elevated roadway in front of a barn looking structure. I was on the side of that road, Hall-Baker Road. Do not care for being right next to that traffic. But it was someplace that looked different. Started off looking to the north from up there. The views to the north look good from up there. Taken with the 16-35mm at 16mm... A view to the west right at local sunset. Taken with the 24-70mm at 48mm... Beginning of the post sunset color. Taken with the 100mm... Back to the north as the red/orange as shifting from the east to the west. Taken with the 16-35mm at 19mm... A view back to the west as the orange got there. Taken with the 16-35mm at 16mm...
