  1. Back Home Again in Indiana, at the pond where I belong... With the 16-35mm and a sun dog on the right also some crepuscular rays on the left... With the 24-70mm around local sunset... Back with the 16-35mm for the post sunset color...
  2. Another fantastic night at the pond this evening. Perfect clouds, nice colors, a great night to be outside. I see a 70's era Don Henley or Don Brewer (drummer for Grand Funk Railroad) here. Do you see it?... Starting off the color with white... A rather large a broad crepuscular ray here... Orange here, leaning towards red... Max red and the end of a great night...
  3. Some better and more varied colors for tonight's sunset at the pond. Pre-sunset... Best light dynamics post sunset... The red flash as the light was waning...
  4. Yes, Indiana has all kinds of clouds.
  5. Finally caught a break yesterday. It rained. So I was able to try and catch up on some sleep. But I was back out at the pond again this evening. Last peek of the Sun for the day... The wind did die down later on in the sunset. So I got to play with the reflections.... Everything was rather blue this evening. So I tried a B&W treatment to ease the over saturation of blue...
  6. Day number nine in a row and still counting. This has to end soon but it did not tonight. I thought with the retrograding system that we might have a shot at some color. In retrospect, I am surprised it was as good as it was, looking at the visible satellite just now. With the 16-35mm... With the 100mm...
  7. And now for day number eight in a row. Pre-sunset looking west... Best color post-sunset was looking east...
  8. Although I thought it might be a stretch, I was out at the pond for day seven in a row. It was spitting rain when I first went out there. Turned into a gentle shower by the time I left. Pre-sunset... After this I left as the light was starting to leave and the rain was not letting up. But just as I got a little bit down the road, the sky started turning red. So I turned around and drove back to the pond. I had to rush with the set up and just threw the camera up next to the car so this last image looks rather pedestrian. But here is the last of the red flash with the rain being illuminated.
  9. Day number six in a row for sunsets at the pond. Although today was all pre-sunset. The MCS in Mo. and Il. kind of put a kibosh on any post sunset color. Started off with some crepuscular rays. Nice searchlight. Things started falling apart as the Sun got deeper into the MCS clouds. Last image before the light got shut off completely...
  10. Day five in a row here this evening. Although it was a close thing. The clouds broke just in time for the post sunset color. A little bit of a spotlight going on here... The last of the vivid color...
  11. Been real lucky here. This is the fourth night in a row with colorful, interesting sunsets. Must be living right. Local sunset... The most vivid of the post sunset color... This is way past the best but I like all the subtle colors after the craziness of earlier.
  12. The post sunset was a bit more vivid than I thought it was going to be. Good thing I took the effort to be at the pond, just in case.
  13. This evening at the pond. Around local sunset... About the best of the post sunset color... While this last image is past the peak, I like on the right side behind the dark clouds and that single tree, a bit of a sun pillar going on. Something I so not see very often and photograph even less.
  14. Tonight's sunset. What I started with... What I ended with...
  15. Nice evening for the third night in a row out at the pond. Local sunset with white clouds... Post sunset with orange clouds... And post sunset with red clouds...
  16. The edge of that system got hung up overhead all day. So I got another colorful sunset this evening. Right at local sunset... About as red as it was going to get...
  17. Departing systems, when they time out right, give the best sunsets. Tonight's yellow flash... Orange flash... And to end the night, the red flash...
  18. Who knew that the best chase route would be the Erie Canal?
  19. The approaching system kind of limited the sunset this evening...
  20. Actually your sunset was at 8:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. While my sunset was at 8:42 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time. So there is almost three quarters of an hour of time difference between you and I.
  21. Tonight was all about the 100mm. Pre-sunset... Post-sunset...
  22. Start of the post sunset color with the 100mm this evening... The red flash with the 24-70mm. This poor lens goes overboard with red... With the 24-70mm again. A little extra red works when there is just a little of that color in the sky...
  23. First sunburn of the season. Ain't life great? Two thumbs up!
  24. Around sunset this evening... This poor image has so many troubles. Fish popping the surface in the lower left. Geese and ducks swimming off the edge of the lower right. And purple martins in addition to starlings flying all over making a hash of things. But the color was so good, I tried to make it look as good as I could.
  25. I like the graceful arc of this cloud around sunset this evening. Taken with the 16-35mm @ 31mm. Post sunset color taken with the 100mm again...
