  1. Two shots from the pre-sunset this evening. Looking south west... Looking north east...
  2. I felt bad for the horse. You could see it had no problems with vehicles. But something going on with that guy in front of that other car really had the horse's attention as it drew close. Looks like the guy was fighting with a tripod. Was it a bang or clatter from it? Or was the guy on a Bluetooth phone and Reed Timmering and yelling at someone else. What ever something momentarily startled the horse and it sort of/ kind of lost it's gait for a nanosecond, but recovered well. Things like that can hurt a horse.
  3. Sky conditions around sunset this evening...
  4. This evening had a little bit of cirrus. A lot of contrail remnants. One or two recent contrails. But what I was really trying to image was a slight sun pillar. Hopefully you can see it.
  5. Looking southeast when I got to the pond this evening. Was the backside of the dryline that moved through earlier... Here is a view to the east but in this one I used the GND filter. You can tell from the increased contrast in the image... Post sunset color, what little there was...
  6. Another night that looked almost like a carbon copy of the previous evening. Only this time there were a lot of fishermen out at the pond. Trouble was they brought their non-fishing kids with them. The kids were taking sticks and constantly whacking at the algae. Kind of messed up the reflections. Pre-sunset... Post-sunset...
  7. Last image for this page, I think. I was late getting out to the pond but it was a still evening and made for a nice reflection...
  8. Went through the whole color wheel on the sunset again this evening. The first two images were with the 16-35mm. The second two with the 24-70mm. The white, when I got out to the pond... The yellow and the beginning of the post sunset... The orange... And the red...
  9. lol. 82 at LAF while it is 52 at ORD. Guess you should not have moved up north.
  10. Well I lost the race this time. The upper level low finally got out of the area but about an hour too soon to get any sunset color. But I did get out to the pond in time to catch a cloud or two before they evaporated in the dry air. Looking east when I got out to the pond... And some cloud shadows looking west...
  11. Tonight was another race with the intruding dry air and the receding system. A sunset overview at 16mm... The sunset at 35mm... Post-sunset color at 100mm...
  12. Tried something different this morning, a sunrise. I was up and I thought there was a chance at a colorful one. A close-up with the 100mm... An overview with the 16-35mm...
  13. Was an evening for the 100mm tonight. Some neat pill box clouds pre-sunset... Local sunset... The red flash was a rather sparse display...
  14. Was out at the pond, just in case, this evening. Pre-sunset and you can see the algae bloom in the pond which was rather severe... Post-sunset had the proper placement and type of clouds but the color never took off. The storms in Nebraska and Kansas blotted out the best light. Still the best that I got...
  15. Finally! After a long week of only grey skies and rain, we managed to dry out just in time for the sunset this evening. Local sunset... The orange... And ending on a high note, the red...
  16. It is back up here now also. Whatever it was it was obviously a very temporary issue.
  17. Odd that the 88 for IND is down but the radar message says that it is up for service. Must be a network issue. Maybe IndyMeso will look in and give us a heads up. Or maybe not.
  18. Tonight was a race with a boundary heading just south of me. Ended up being a decent color night. Pre sunset with a nice bronze color... Post sunset with the beginning of the red flash... After a frantic lens change to the 16-35mm, the last of the red...
  19. The clouds that were hanging around most of the afternoon, took a hike towards sunset. What it looked like when I got out to the pond... Local sunset and the only clouds left were on the horizon so I had to go with the 100mm... Best of the post sunset color...
  20. This is going to be short and sweet tonight. Local sunset...
  21. The upper low finally moved on and we had a sunset here for the first time in a number of days. About an hour before sunset, the clearing was finally moving through... Moved over to the right side of the pond and was shooting south as the edge moved overhead... There were just a few cloud stragglers at local sunset... And ending the evening with the post color looking to the east and the edge of the clouds...
  22. Only cloud was to the east this evening. When I got out to the pond... About the max of the color, and that is not saying much...
  23. A quick evolution of the sunset for tonight. These are the clouds I was hoping would be around for the sunset but they rolled through about one hour too soon... Shows just how fast the dry air was winning... About as good as the color was going to get....
  24. Another extremely minimal sunset as far as clouds go, But the color was there, so I made the effort. There is only four minutes between these two images. Shows you just how quick the light fades as the Sun rounds away beneath the horizon.
  25. Tonight was a lot more subtle. Just a gentle flirting. The Yellow... The Orange... And the Red...
