  1. Thanks for reminding me to not drive the ThruWay during winter.
  2. What type of wood are you burning?
  3. You must have some serious snow removal equipment. My back aches just looking at your pic.
  4. ^ Nothing like hurricane force straight line winds. Tie down that patio furniture!
  5. This might be the last for awhile as the extended overtime begins in earnest at work tomorrow. If so, I ended with a nice colorful sunset. Looking north east hen I got to the pond... Some post sunset yellow... Max post sunset red looking southwest... Fading red looking west north west...
  6. Finally broke that Lake influenced inversion layer today for the first time in quite awhile. Only clouds were to the north east when I got out to the pond... What little color there was around sunset...
  7. I bet you find it hard to believe that Indiana is colder than the UP, right?
  8. Got lucky and took a vacation day from work and the atmosphere as nice enough to give me a nice sunset that I as able to view. What it looked like around sunset... Was even given some extreme post sunset color. I am going to share two images. One straight lens and one with the GND so you can see and compare the results of the two and decide which you like best. Literally there is only one second difference beteen the to images so the light should be identical in each. I also tried to process, trim and save each as close as identical as I could get. The first is straight lens. The yellows and oranges dominate in the image... The second is with the GND and the reds and blues dominate... The truth might be in the middle of the two as color balance in cameras can be a fragile thing. As an aside I would like the thank everyone for all the views throughout the year. Might close in on another 5,000 views soon. I am amazed that anyone would ant to see some images from an old and partially blind photographer from the middle of nowhere Indiana. Have a great end of the year!
  9. Frosty November morning in Indiana...
  10. Some sunrise clouds to start November. A little red creeping above the corn... Some ripples in the cirrus after returning home...
  11. Just so you know, we are currently under daylight savings time. On November 3rd e will revert to standard time.
  12. Tonight was a race with a boundary from that massive low up north and darkness. The edge got close to overhead but it as a near thing. Did get some dramatic light so that helped a little bit. When I got to the pond looking northeast when the Sun popped out... Looking south with the same strong white light... Looking west and the strong yellow light as the Sun hid behind some clouds... This image has quite the variety. Orange up high, yellow in the middle and red in the distance... Max red dynamics... Last of the red as it was fading looking northeast like I started the evening...
  13. Was a busy day behind the viewfinder. Looking north in the afternoon... Looking northeast in the afternoon... Looking east when I got to the pond in the evening... Now onto the post sunset, an overview... A close-up of the orange and red...
  14. Was dancing with the virga this evening. Looking south when I got out to the pond... Max orange on the virga... Leaning a tad more towards red and a little more expansive...
  15. Nice evening for a sunset. Had just a tad of cirrus in just the right location. Also think it might have been influenced from soybean dust suspended in the air. The colors were rather vivid. Started off post sunset with the yellows... Now with orange on the horizon... Some red starting off high in the sky and at the top of this image... Serious red on the horizon... Ending the evening with just a splash of the violet color thanks to the Asian volcanos earlier in the year...
  16. Had a little tendril from that massive low up north sweep through right at sunset. Nice timing...
  17. I would guess, NOAA. Your mileage may vary though.
  18. Squeezed another sunset after work. Not sure how that is going to last seeing ho early it gets dark now. But it was another nice October sunset. Pre-sunset... This is probably close to actual sunset but seeing how that stand of trees is in the way I am not entirely sure... Best of the post sunset dynamics/color...
  19. Tonight as just a normal night out. Will have to wow with multiples. Pre-sunset... Early post-sunset... Late post-sunset...
  20. Tonight as about one thing, and one thing only; crepuscular rays. So you only get one image tonight. *Drop mike*
  21. Not much to the sunset this evening. Way off in the distance... The Moon... Some over-the-horizon cloud shadows...
  22. Gorgeous evening out at the pond. Both physically and visually. Started off with some cloud shadows... Local sunset... What gives me the biggest thrills, the orange or red flash... For symmetry going to end the nigh with cloud shadows, just the over-the-horizon kind...
  23. This evening a hole opened up overhead of the high altitude clouds. The low altitude kept forming, eroding and then reforming all sunset long. Gave me plenty to shoot. Starting out... Close to sunset... Goin to make a time break and head to late post sunset... Here comes some more low altitude stuff... Last image before the big billboard lit off...
  24. This is from the evening of the 27th. Was completely socked with clouds around five but by six the ridge started flexing it's muscle a bit and started clearing things out overhead. Looking east when I got to the pond around seven... Just this one cloud that was melting around sunset... An overview at sunset of orange at the horizon and white in the upper atmosphere... I thought there might be a chance of some crepuscular rays from the cells in Missouri. A nice way to end the evening...
