Wow, impressive storm here. Basically 2 inches an hour from start to finish. Today could've been a mini version of it if we were a touch cooler or the snow fell at night.
Not sure about up here but I got 12 inches with that one. At the time I lived 1 mile north of beltway exit 20 on the Pikesville/Owings Mills line. Started snowing just after dark and was done before sunrise. I think it was a Sunday.
Still snowing decently but not accumulating as its compacting faster. Reached 5 inches then a lull which it compacted to 4.5. After that had some really good rates and measured 5.5. Now it's back to 4.5 -5.0 depending where I measure. I'll go with 5.5 although we probably got over 6. This may have been 7-8 if it was a couple degrees colder or fell mostly at night.
There was never 1 global that gave my area over .5 QPF. on any run leading up to the event. Nice surprise.
Made it into the low 40's today but still have full snowcover.
I'll go 3-4 for northern crew. Equal chances to bust high or low. Temps. around 30 and the height. Hopefully when it ends we don't shoot up to 42 with full sunshine.
Nice look for sure. Let's see if the overrunning snow gets stronger. Right now its generally light to moderate on both GFS and Euro. Like to see a nice strong moisture feed into the cold.
Yes, exactly. I always give him a hard time but its tongue and cheek. He does seem like a nice guy and I do understand his location is really bad for snow but his message is a consistent negativity and it is with every event bar none.
I was only 10 but I remember that day very vividly. That was the longest period of sustained S+ and S++ I ever seen. Basically it was 2 feet plus in 12 hours. Let's settle for 12 inches in 6 hours and then on to next week.
Looks good up here. The .3 qpf. extends well into PA. Our temps look good and 850's look good. Ratios here will be good and if the storm stays on the same track some models are hinting at an enhanced band through our area. Sometimes storms can have 2 maxes. Another bump or 2 north is possible too and then we get hit real good.
