    There was an event a couple days after Christmas in 1990 that was a big time overachiever. We were in a different pattern then but the system may have been similar to what is coming tomorrow night. Forecast was for 1-3/2-4 but what happened instead was double and triple that amount. Cold Temps and good ratios along with banding produced very heavy snowfall rates over a 4-6 hour period. Maybe this does the same.

    Agree. I'll be thrilled with that considering where we were 48 hours ago. Plus there could easily be a surprise or 2 with this.

    So on December 19th you see no window of opportunity in January?

    2 decent moderate events the last week of February salvaged the winter. There were 2 busts that were painful in January Superbowl Sunday ( Bears vs. Patriots ) was supposed to be rain changing to snow with up to 6 inches expected. The other bust was a 3-6 inches forecast and ended up with zilch.

    Yeah, I got 2 weird messages this morning. I just deleted them and did not open either. I forgot to report them.

    There's historically been toughly 7 or 8 teams that do what ever they can to throw away games and find improbable ways to lose but the Vikings have to be at the top. Even when they were really good in the 70's they pulled off some epic collapses.

    Don't forget his January 85 arctic outbreak and his 1967 whatever the hell with a touch of January 1977 thrown in the mix now.

    Well you were extremely unlucky in that one location because every area surrounding Emmitsburg recorded double what you saw. I would not label that storm a bust for the northern tier. It was clear by gametime that the huge totals models were spitting out a few days before we're not going to be realized. For mid December it was a very decent storm. Other than a few members almost everyone received some accumulation.
