For some of y’all worried about ptypes a week out(sigh) have you ever seen an ice storm that stretches from Raleigh to Columbia? No. You haven’t. The triangle would be snow or sleet with that pattern. Freezing rain further East and South.

Just checking on you, BullCityWx....................... making sure you haven't passed out over that way.
IMO, pattern recognition says snow on snow might be a possibility somewhere in the southeast.

This has been a really wintery feeling winter.
We were just thinking that. We haven’t been able to make use of our patio at all.

Imagine the damming showing up. It’s over frozen land. You’d push the damming to Birmingham.

Euro coming in bigger with the Sunday storm for parts of the forum prior to the bigger cold plunge
That’s gonna be the difference between ten and zero with this cold plunge

There’s several things we haven’t seen in a few years on the table for next week:
lows in the single digits, maybe close to zero in the foothills and the border counties with Virginia with highs for several days in the twenties. The ground is going to be a brick. We haven’t had antecedent conditions like this for a storm since February 2014.

The airmass incoming is extremely cold and extremely dry. Check out the dew points. If we get a system within a few days of the air mass settling in it will be frozen.
Yep. Not gonna worry about specifics, this is pattern recognition 101.

How far north in Durham County are you Bull City? I’m right on the Durham/Wake line about 3-4 miles north of Brier Creek.
I’m about a mile from the Orange County line off Bivins Rd and seven miles due NW of DBAP. It’s a weird spot for soundings because I’m equal distance from IGX and TDF. RDU is a bit further. @Isopycnic is about 4 miles SW of me and I think @Avdave is actually in Brier Creek.

@Blue_Ridge_Escarpment @BullCityWx you guys have any thoughts on the main batch of WAA as to how good lift will be for dendritic growth? Tonight’s pixie dust I’m assuming may be more related to ratios somewhat. Have you guys seen anything that will aid in enhancement of fgen or anything?
Honestly, I haven’t been giving this too much attention. @Blue_Ridge_Escarpment is probably the go to man here.
I will say that it’s been snowing here for fifteen minutes and it has slowly gone over to almost all sleet.

This is now the fourth time I’ve seen it snow this winter. Pretty wild considering my seasonal total is 2.5”.

I remember driving down that day to see my ex. I got there and stopped at the fresh market at Trenholm Plaza. It was just starting to snow so I was okay.
everybody else wasn’t. I’ve never seen such panic.
