My coworker just texted me and said ice pellets are falling with mangled in flakes near Columbia mall. Come onnnn, bring on those heavier returns. Would love to see the 95 crew get in on the action for a bit.

Thanks man. Took a bit less than 4 hrs with no one on the road. Pretty smooth ride with lots of scooby snacks to get me through [emoji23] Looks like precip won’t begin up here until late afternoon. 740 ft elevation half a mile east of mount hope. WSW up for 6-12” Seeing some snow falling on my cam back home in union bridge. Assume some sleet is mixed in there too based on other’s observations. WSW up for 2-4” of snow / sleet + some ice .

Officially below freezing. Forecasted low of 20 tonight. Gimme 3-4” of thumpy paste and I’ll be happy at this point.

They don’t like constant switching between optimism and doom or talks of the back edge approaching 5 states away .

May head up to my parents house tonight in the Hudson valley depending on how things look tonight. They have a warning up for 6-10”, should remain all snow. Have off work until Tuesday, so perhaps I’ll head up to “visit my folks”. Haven’t decided quite yet.

Yep. The gulf is awfully close though? Which is warm. Moistures being fed into the system from there.

Definitely some surprise snows happening to our SW. Forecasts for mix / rain actually ended up being a few inches of snow in Arkansas and surrounding areas. Perhaps a sign of things to come? Perhaps not. This one’s going to be very interesting to track in real time. Next 12-18 hours should be pretty telling. Hoping for a solid 3-5 hour window of thumpage. Pretty decent gulf interaction occurring down south right now. Pretty safe to say this storm will have a respectable amount of moisture to work with. .

It’d be even sweeter if most of that qpf that falls along I-95 as the gfs depicts falls when temps are still cold enough for frozen. Sucks not having everyone in on the fun for this one. .

Curious what the 18z 3k NAM has to say. Pretty much solely focused on thermals at this point. A nudge in the colder direction would be nice to see.

Same. Quite close to the Frederick county border. Still think my area can manage a solid 3-5” out of this if we’re just a tad cooler than progged come game time. .

Being off by 100 miles and a few degrees 2+ weeks out is models being astonishingly accurate.

Pretty interesting to see all of the snowfall accumulation changes from run to run. Track remains mostly the same as Clskins alluded to, but the thermals are all over the place. We may really need to wait until Friday night to know what’s going on, once the airmass / high is actually in place and models aren’t just predicting what it’ll be like.
