Hi there Daxx . I use the enzymes fungus and bacteria from the leachate and castings  to increase photosynthetic sugar production or °BX  in produce  . If your looking for composting worms I would be willing to give you thousands . If you need nightcrawlers a calm cool wet night with a dim or red headlamp will give you plenty fishing worms and appreciation for how many Lumbricus terrestris there actually are under your feet  and what they do. The earth would be burred in carbon and nitrates without them and all the other worm species.  Good Luck with the storm on Saturday if there is much luck to be had.

This is actually interesting!  I never would have thought worms were used for such things. Good luck to you as well!

I feed my worm lots of oats and kelp. Makes the most biodiverse castings and leachate (Piss and Shit ) as far as bacterial / fungal  diversity goes . I use the casting to brew a actively aerated compost teas or aerobic tea for short . I do a type of Japanese composting called bokashi to facilitate beneficial anaerobic bacteria colonization. What a stink fest that is if done wrong. I welcome anyone that wants to learn to come one over. lol

Do you sell your worms for money or do you use them for bait only? You seem to be very knowledgeable with this.

Great info, thanks.  So the top two are 2 of the last 3 decades.  Wonder if there are any record keeping issues there as otherwise that is pretty definitive info that it is VERY rare to hit 68 in January and we have indeed had more days at that temp since some time in the 1970's.

Do you know if the sensor has been in the same general area or has it changed over the years? Sometimes they get moved around.

LOL, I was more posting for my own info vs. yours guys discussion.  I do not have time to check now but guessing if you did the other decades back to 1950's it was at least a little less common.  The 2017/2018 seasons skewed this last decade high.

Edit-Blizz (and maybe Nut) are probably steaming seeing posts about temps in the 70's but this is a weather board not just a winter weather board.  I like discussing extremes.  :-)

I agree. I like all weather extremes.  I'd rather it snow but living here that's not going to happen all the time.

Edit: I should have said most of the time.

I remember watching the radar on a Saturday afternoon and following along on the boards when out of nowhere a few posters from nowhere close to here started posting about the ominous conditions in our area. Sure enough, the tornado warnings started coming quickly...

An EF-1 tornado was confirmed near Wrightsville that day.  I didn't even have a drop of rain that day. Nothing but sun and 70s.

I just did a QUICK scan back to Dec 2010 for any days in Dec-Feb that reached 68 or higher.  There is a decent chance I missed one or two but these are most of them. Just listing months and temps.

    Feb 2011 (1)-68

    Dec 2013(1)-70

    Feb 2017(5) 68,68,69,75,76

    Feb 2018(2) 77,79

Yea...I went back and looked as well.  Of course Mike is right again! Lol  February in the past several years have been king for 70s.

Someone made the comment that it hits 70 every winter.  I did not have the time to check then but doubt that is a norm except in the last decade or two.  I do not remember it hitting 70's much in the 80's or 90's (between Dec 1 and March 1).

I could be totally wrong but to me it seems 70s have been occurring in December and January more often. Then once we hit February through the beginning of April it's a struggle to hit 70.
