This. I think as recently as the middle of last week, most of us were certainly aware of what was going on but at the time it seemed more like a nuisance...it was really towards the end of last week that we quickly reached the "oh sh*t" point.

I'm not going to lie I downplay things at first, that is just my nature. This has my attention now!

I am in construction right now but the corporate side of it.   If they shut down our job sites I cannot see the company staying open (furlough).

We can only hope this ends quick, but I just don't see this happening. It is really crazy to see how the whole world changed in 10 days.

The way I understand it all construction sites had to shut down today with the Governors order so if that cascades to other states construction is going to be a HUGE furlough target.

Yea...I am so glad to be out of construction. I was in housing construction for 16 years. When it's booming times are great, but after 2008 I would never want to get back into it again.

after today, my son, myself and possibly my daughter, will all be filing for unemployment.....likely (hopefully) temporary, but this is not good.

Sorry to hear this.  I know what it's like to be unemployed.  I was in construction back in  2008.  It was a real struggle for years until I got the job I have now.  I hope you and your family are working soon.

    It follows other states.

Bars, restaurants, casinos, theaters, etc close. If they can offer TOGO they do that but no guests.

If you think a national shutdown isn’t going to happen you need to read up on virus. We had a chance to contain this weeks ago and dodged responsibility.

Our agency is closed but we are working remotely.

I really don't want to get into this but... We would have had to basically shutdown travel in and out of our country back in December to even have a chance to not have this situation. With world wide travel this was bound to show up here. I'm sure there were cases here well before the first reported case.  You cant really come up with an exact time we should have shut the country down.  The longer the country is in shutdown, the ones that are not financially ready for this will be in serious trouble. If you ask me the lack of testing weeks ago is what really hurt.

  6. I believe everyone's concerns are valid, health or economic side.  No one should criticize anyone for being scared or worried right now.  What I find annoying is the blame game, this does not help a damn thing!  When this is over we can look back and see where we went right or wrong.

I just use the word storm interchangeably with a precip event.  I will say that this area is only 4 years removed from a super Hec's so its not like it has been decades since a big snow.

Yes...2016 was the last time we had a Hec's and 2012 was our last real shit winter,so yea we are winning!

.4" seems to be the number for this storm.  If someone gets that total I will marvel at the prognostication abilities of those that called for it.

Can really call it a storm? It has been so bad that getting .4" is now a snowstorm.  Lol  Next year 3 inches will be a hecs.

Most of Lanco (including Lancaster proper) did not - I live just a mile or so from the Suskie in extreme western Lancaster county and was able to cash in on the same banding that @daxx did over in eastern York. I've had 9.6" for the season with 5.2" of it from one event.

I had 5.9” from that event.  I am at 10.2” for the season. I’m ready for thunderstorms.  I could care less if I see any snow at this point.  Unless it’s a big one.

Aside from a little rain Tuesday the whole week looks to be in the mid to upper 50s and sunny.  IMO winter is dead, enjoy spring before humidity arrives.

We have had a very nice spring since December 18th.  There should be no complaints about going from winter, straight to summer this year.

It would be the most ironic thing in recorded weather history if the GFS 12z happened verbatim as depicted...

On the above scenario, BOS, NYC and PHL all receive > 20" of snow. That has NEVER happened in recorded history from the same storm. Ever.

For it to happen on this, of all years, in this, of all patterns...

There's a first time for everything, right? :)

    The euro says nah!

We need to make a group trip up to New York for some of that kind of fun.

    Thats some crazy snow totals.

For sure! I stay in a real nice cabin up there. It sleeps 10 people. I have stayed at several places but I finally found the sweet spot. I have also seen snow depths over 7 feet up there.

And that's kind of indication of how piss poor the winter has been, correct? In a normal winter the lake effect machine would have shut off long ago due to the lakes being frozen...not this winter.

Not Ontario, very rare it freezes over.  That’s why the Tug Hill gets so much snow!  Erie freezes up quick.  It’s very shallow.

Since we have nothing to talk about other than home heating ideas, how do we feel about realistic chances for snow before we call this godawful season finished once and for all?

For my yard I'm going to guess I have a 25% chance of measurable snow, and a 10% chance of more than 3".

    Other guesses?

    40/5
