  1. Thanks - this might get interesting yet...I've got the whole house generator and 1200 gallons of propane. Large scale power issues will really stink for people. Already got the call from Eversource warning of potential outages.
  2. Is this one of those times where elevation will help to get you above freezing or is the cold layer thick enough that 1000 feet will still be in the cold surface flow? Saw this all the time living in the CTRV - all the trees bent with ice at home and then drive up the hill into Tolland and it was well above freezing.
  3. Is there a push of cold air anticipated to increase in the coming hours? Temp has risen a couple of degrees to 29 in past couple of hours and dp is also jumped up 3 degrees to 18. Wind has been from ESE. Was hoping that being on the western side of CT might help out on this one.
  4. Pretty impressive here in New Hartford! Freshening up the snow cover!
  5. I was in Ellington. We did well over the last decade - no complaints. Hoping being at 1,000 feet pays dividends as compared to the flat lands of Ellington. We should do much better with snow retention here.
  6. I think you are still going to beat me (even with the change in location) - closing in on 3 inches.
  7. Thanks - we won't be able to compare the differences on the flatlands in Ellington as compared to Tolland as few miles away.
  8. Thanks! It's a cabbed (heat and AC) John Deere 3046 with a 59 inch snowblower. I grew up in Norfolk, so this is getting back to the old stopping grounds - not quite as good as Norfolk. I'm quite excited for this winter!
  9. Ironically - the delivery of a new tractor to do snow removal, may get snowed out on Friday AM. Now out in the NW Hills of CT with a 1,500 ft driveway with a pretty significant uphill section. Hope the new elevation of 1,000 delivers the goods much better than the old homestead in Ellington on the eastern edge of death valley.
  10. Wow - an inch less here in NE Ellington. Thunder really popping now to the east.
  11. We have been light here all day. Have not actually measured but would be surprised if we broke 4 inches. The tops of the casters on gas grill are still visible. Happy for all who scored big. I grew up in Norfolk so jack potting was almost always guaranteed.
  12. Ironically - the best snow of the entire event over the last hour or so.
  13. It is finally trying to snow with a sense of purpose. Hopefully this holds for a little bit.
  14. Even as the band to west is dying a slow death - it just won't cross the border into Tolland County to give me 10 minutes of excitement. Hope others fare better.
  15. We have been stuck in the middle for quite a while - hopefully this fires up soon or time will run out.
  16. Currently sandwiched between the two bands - Currently snowing lightly. Hopefully, we can get into a couple hours of heavier snow.
  17. There are a lot of us thinking the same way - I'll admit that I'm snow greedy.
  18. Let's get these two bands to come together over us and rot!
  19. I'm hoping the bands in eastern CT keep pushing west for a while - otherwise it could be a long day here in Ellington.
  20. To my untrained eye - It looks like the EPS mean appears to be pulled east by a bunch of members halfway to Europe in the timeframe of interest.
