  1. Had to take some time off for personal matters so missed all the heat talk...not going to go back and review but wanted to point out that parts of 4 LSV counties are now officially in a drought for at least the second summer in a row. Some of these areas actually have embedded D1 and D2 for local conditions but they will not pinpoint small radius locations. Locally here I have only had .75" of rain in the last ~3 weeks.
  2. Yea, that sounds more like what I thought but did see a web site which described what you posted. But in theory it could never be a set temp since 90 in Sept is much more of an event than in August. So by these standards we would need MDT to reach 95 for five straight days which actually was on the docket of the GFS a few days ago. That was some top notch investigative work.
  3. Yea, its still going to be hot and eventually humid as Tuesday comes on. But like a snowstorm that is forecast 7 days out and makes the news, the heat wave was also making the rounds of water coolers while all models, including the Euro though possible 94-96's a couple days there, now have it as a few slight to moderate above average August days now. None of the low 100's of a few days ago. If a heat wave is considered a heat wave with 3 days above 90 then that is truly strange. The normal high right now is 86 so that means 3 days slightly above normal is a heat wave?
  4. I think part of the issue with the point and clicks is the reliance on the GFS and possibly some automated temps going in for the GFS or maybe a mesh of models. I looked at 5 models for 21Z and the only one that has you in the 90's is the HRRR.
  5. 12Z GFS continues the slow backing down of the heat wave. When compared to 2-3 days ago its an extreme difference of 5-10 degrees cooler at 18Z mid to late next week. Still hot with MDT getting up to near 90 several days in a row (18Z) with high DP's especially Monday Night through Saturday AM. But certainly not a heat wave anymore as depicted when looking it temps 4-6 degrees above normal. I personally would not call it a heatwave until we have mid 90's 4-5 days in a row.
  6. Was just outside for 30 min and as long as not in the sun it was a treat here. 82. Would be a bit warm without the breeze.
  7. Fluffing up pillows stats. Another feather in the sack.
  8. Very nice evening. Mike lLindell may be hacking the Pillow low temp readings.
  9. Quiet here tonight. Everyone must be glued to the Cowboys and Steelers slobberknocker showdown. Can either team get to 10 points?
  10. Me thinks you are thinking of our American friend. Gfs is not exactly spot on with its not 300 hour snow storms.
  11. King CMC carried us through spring. Its been a little off track the last month to 45 days. Maybe each model has a favorite time of the year.
  12. GFS high on Saturday, for MDT, is around 80. CMC low 80's. Hmmm. Nam has no 90's for MDT whole run. The weekend portion of the heat wave is definitely wavering today as a more cloudy outlook comes on. Both the Nam and CMC punt the early part of the heat wave for N VA and north...into next week.
  13. MDT never hits 90 the entire run of the CMC....due to a lot more afternoon convection (speaking of that, radar is lighting up a bit in Western PA today) and simply no big push of heat.
  14. No excuses needed for posting something that is off topic during slow times. This is a community after all :-).
  15. Starting to see why. Though yesterday Cap City was only one degree off. I believe their temps are accurate they are just not always representative of most of the area. York (a known cold spot) scored a 53, Lancaster 56. It's truly an HIA thing I believe.
  16. Your MDT friends only managed a 61. Each passing cool night the records at MDT become less and less legitimate.
  17. Vive Le Lucky. Team USA catches a big break and escapes having to face the best player in the world in Luka Doncic...gets a second shot at France for Gold.
  18. KCMCFKEURO rule. King CMC and Former King Euro. They overrule the GFS when somewhat close in depiction.
  19. @Itstrainingtime....does MDT make 100 next week? 10 days left before it becomes a very rare event.
  20. 54 here this Am as well. Not Pillow worthy but decent just the same.
  21. Farmers Almanac is never wrong. Astrology and Met degrees all in one package.
  22. Not sure it gets any worse for qpf heads when a full NAM run shows nothing.
  23. Thank goodness the GFS is running again soon. It could have good news up its sleeve?
