Thanks. Interesting study of the HIA affect as well as how even the low end heat waves cost people lives or the feeling of safety. Temps in the 100's are more deadly than most hurricanes.
HIA article for anyone with a subscription.

The general sense of it, a little less extreme than the suite i looked at yesterday. It is so far out it is just on the GFS only re: mostly past 240 hours. Starting Aug 5th.
Estimated Ocean temps would be in the mid to upper 80's end of August. That is one hot heat wave if that comes to fruition. If MDT gets to 95 or above for 5 days then we are talking heat wave.
Its a long range GFS so that is my take. BUT, it is insistent on a real heatwave (temps 10 or more over average in my book). 5 days of 98-102 is not much better than 100-105.
Verbatim, today's GFS may be the most extreme heatwaves ever for the LSV. 6 straight days above 100 with 5 of them 105-110. Could set up the ironic chance that @Voyager gets out of the car/off the plane in Arizona to feel a cool down.
That is a real heat wave and real HIA in action. Lot more airplanes there. There should record the facial reactions of people who fly in there...when they look down during landing and realize where they are about to be dropped off.
I think much of that was cloud based. Stalled front just to our south and a Choo Choo of moisture riding along it. What is your elevation there, I forget?
