We have not cracked 40 since the 18th. Nice 3-day stretch.

12Z GFS continues with the much colder look the last few days of Dec into the New Year but the first contestant to take advantage of the colder air decides it would rather visit the GL's. 300+ look so not relevant other than a PBP . No temps above 40 after the 28th.

11:33 Nooner-Cloudy and 33. Looks like it could snow.

Just west of the LSV and western LSV is quite cold.

It got up to 32 here around 8AM but back down to 29.

The true LSV got a bad shake last night. Even B-Dub got down to 29. Low to mid 20's for central MD rural areas.

Current Global Model Christmas high temp forecasts for MDT. Icon, GFS: 55ish Ec: Low 50's CMC amd UK: 50ish

Send them to Arizona where they can be used in the high grounds.

True cold and some threats, squashed at this time, show up in the mid to late 6Z GFS op.

23 for a low but temps have risen to 28 at this time. Rgem still correcting a bit for tomorrow AM with low 20's, instead of teens, for the Eastern LSV.

Both the Nam and Rgem advertising some potential weekend mood snow for @pawatch and gang. A very cold Sat for all of Eastern PA with temps maxing around 35.

Up to 38. May not make 40 today.

Elevation has to get some wins from time to time. GFS shit the blinds though I bet Orlando seeing the 540 line would excite the crowd down there. CMC does try to get cold in end of year from the Atlantic.

Rgem still banging the Teens/near 20 over this way tomorrow Am then upper teens/20 Eastern LSV Fri AM. It relaxed the lows a tad bit and moved them up 2-3 degrees.

It is all good. On the MA LR thread they are excited again about after Jan 1 based on pattern recognition of the ensembles. GFS OP just not showing it yet. We can have good 500H looks with surface temps that are too warm or the reverse where we snow on a bad look. That map I posted the other day with the 540 Line near Valdosta GA and temps just near freezing here is a good example. But, fairly confident next week is not going to be cold at all. We got our Dec cold this week. It is still only 25 here.

Yea, on the 6Z. Eastern side of the country is evacuated of BN temps on the 27th. Not a torch either, just mild. Colder air works in after Jan 1 but only for a few days as it looks transient. Highs in the mid 40's Jan 4th. Just a LR PBP on an Op model, not a forecast.

Several 50's on the GFS for post-Christmas week into New Year Day so if that is close, it will probably rise indeed...from the current 3.2.

GFS. It has been jumping all over the place though...a lot of vorts and it keeps changing which one to focus on.

It is still 19 at THV. LOL. Meanwhile MDT never got below 29.

Despite the colder weather this week so far, MDT stands at a healthy 3.2AN departure for the months as to temps. 14 of the 19 days have been above normal with the 17th and 18th being double digits AN. Not much chance of paring down that departure to anywhere near normal over the last 11 days.

It is a bit nipply out.
