  1. Congratulations on your red tag, and best wishes to you on obtaining a PhD. Never been to Laramie, but was in Casper WY way back in '83. Split levels are the worst in regard to ductwork layout to get the proper cfm for heating and cooling. On long hot stretch of days like this I've seen people use booster fans or shutting off some feed ducts to push the air where you need it. Or, yeah, give the thermocouples a try 86 Degrees with 70 dew point-just saw a little tiny blip of lighting around the Mason Dison line.
  2. My timing is impeccable having plans to go to NYC tomorrow, thru the weekend. Someone get that retrograding low pressure to get out to sea and send me from winds from the south! Seeing the worst of this was yesterday/today? Just asking since our activities do not include being inside. An outdoor concert tomorrow night and touring lower Manhattan on Saturday. Clock ticking on cancellation time(s) to get full refund. I think we aren't cancelling though. Thanks in advance for any advice.
  3. Oh Newman! Seems things are about to get real. My front lawn has lots of brown spots too. The dust from the driveway is awful and I refuse to close my windows! I just throw a towel over the clean dishes until I put them away. I'm old and never remember a May where it didn't rain and be cold. 2023 new record. First time in recorded history.
  4. Crazy evening on Saturday. No tornado for me, thankfully. Just some hail
  5. At least I was able to entertain myself by scrolling through the NE forum.
  6. Congrats guys. I got nothing. Saw some pixie dust on the way in this morning. Pretty windy though. Currently at 25mph. Temp 36F. Gives a wind chill of 24F. Hope the power stays on.
  7. Y'all have been a barrel of fun this winter. Maybe next year. Can't say I miss shoveling.
  8. 54F @ 9:40am. Wow. Everyone decked out at the office in their Eagles gear and the AC just kicked on!
  9. It was an icy night 5 yrs. ago in spots after the SB. I too would want my watching crew to be able to come over and watch with me over snow. Maybe we can get the best of both worlds, a SB win on the 12th, and snowstorm on the 13th. I took off that day! 24F wind chill definitely a factor today/tonight/tomorrow.
  10. I'm at 36F w/light flakes. Wasn't expecting anything but rain.
  11. Shower, 39F. Blinds are closed. Can't take much more of the damp and dreary. I'm in the suicidal scenes of Groundhog Day.
  12. Pretty soon they will have to change the seasons to the months they actually happen. To further my depression, just ordered heating oil @ $3.999 per gal. UGH! Going to use the electric heat more for now. Rather pay the higher electric bill and covet the oil for next winter.
  13. Happy New Year Philly forum! I'm glad I saved this pic. By my beach cottage on the Elk River (Earleville MD). 12.27. I'm still holding onto hope for a snow shower this weekend.
  14. Truly sad at the number of deaths. The ones found in cars were preventable as there was a driving ban issued. There still is. To me, I am sorry for a place known for snow they should have known better. Linking an article with the nationwide numbers of lives lost over 12 states. Southwest is an absolute disaster. Heads should roll for this one. Feel bad for stranded people. Reading they didn't have planes and or crews staged to weather this storm. https://www.msn.com/en-us/weather/topstories/at-least-63-killed-in-deadly-blizzard-wreaking-havoc-across-u-s/ar-AA15HLTw?ocid=entnewsntp&cvid=187332b02f4844b29b6f6373e7e7bb59
  15. The 40-45 mph winds should help dry things up a bit before the artic front passes. I hope anyway.
  16. House temp is at 76. Outside 66. Opened a few windows for a bit. Broke a sweat! Moon looks great. I’ll probably miss the eclipse. What a nice stretch of weather with baseball! Nice while it lasted. Headed to FL for Thanksgiving hoping I don’t have to deal with weather- Fort Lauderdale. Late storm with no big surprises in store for them this week. Had a colorful fall this year.
  17. Devastating. I wanna know how you move 50 ton boats off land? Cranes I suppose? But then where do they go? Do they make trucks big enough to haul them? Is there also boat salvage/graveyards? At work today I did get a work order for a JC Penney’s store in Fort Myers requesting an electrician to turn off the main switch gear. I was able to get in touch with someone to get it done. I thought it would be days. Floridians are good folks. I could never live there though. It’s too humid and I love my four seasons here in SE PA. Best wishes going out to all here that are effected.
  18. I had to shut a few windows I had open for days. It's chilly out!
  19. Here's the link for the Fox news local station (pic above) for anyone wanting to watch their coverage. https://www.fox4now.com/live
  20. There will be fatalities on Sanibel. Especially if the causeway failed early there was no way for anyone to get out or to survive that surge. I heard the water was up to roofs. Watched the Gov. presser and he said he knows of 2 deaths but didn't say where. He tried to walk back what Lee county sheriff said, but Gov said the first responders went out before they were suppose to, so that statement was a bit telling. It's going to be a very long and sad day, I fear.
  21. Hoping for some more pop ups around sundown. Had a brief shower earlier. Feels like it's gonna, but will it?
