  1. This is my winter window. The outside sill and capping blew up after the 09-10 winter and we never repaired it. The inside original wood sash swelling is holding it together. So, for your entertainment once we get into the teens I can post another pic of an iced up window. It faces southwest-as you can see plenty of condensation on it that won’t go away on its own.
  2. Yea wind! NW 24 mph. Things drying up, I’m routing for that. Temp down 11 degrees since last post. Few flurries.
  3. Hmm. My sleet to rain call from yesterday looks to verify now. I’m getting pretty good at this! Lol. Currently I’m not under any advisories but suspect a flood one will come later. Should have few hours of wind to dry things up some before temps crash. Actually glad. This storm is a mess.
  4. Little of everything, except thunder! LOL
  5. Here's my temperature profile. Is this right? That's a long way off from 50.
  6. I suppose it's a possibility. I mean we have everything from the 50s (that I can't see happening) and this map. Split the difference and that moves the snow/rain/mix line a little further south? Even though the low is riding the PA.MD boarder? Interesting though.
  7. I'm going with sleet to rain based on what you guys have here. Maybe a few flakes before it shuts off. I really appreciate all the insight (and jokes) since I have no idea what I'm talking about! The most exciting obs I will be looking to post will be my temp on Sunday am!! 50s? It may happen. Wondering if anyone recalls the last flash freeze that happened? I recall a Friday evening commute several years ago where an emergency broadcast went out as roads iced up in Chester County from a significant drop in temperatures. I worked in West Chester at the time. In town was OK, but side streets in neighborhoods were glazed over. I ended up at my sister's home nearby unable to make it home.
  8. I'll be honest, I sort of like where I am at the moment. I would rather have the lower snow accum if cold rain is just going to wash it away. I'm still a little concerned about ice. Will be interesting to see just how impactful the folks that are right on the line (which should be well NW of me atm) of an event this will be. Surely you guys will have a good consensus this afternoon, or after tonight's model runs once our little storm is out of the way.
  9. I worked for a heating oil company in 1994. A January I will never forget. We quickly became a 24/7 operation in both the oil delivery and service departments, as well as manning the office for dispatch. I worked in service. The police would come to the door giving us service calls as customers were calling 911 since they couldn't get through on our telephone lines. For days, once I arrived to work (which was hell but our boss had us car pooling and/or had us driven in) -it would be at least and hour and a half before I could even put the receiver down and take a sip of coffee. With the power outages, of course there wasn't much we could do to get the heat on and I had a list of over 100-150 homes that had frozen. As the homes would re gain power we would send a team over with an ice breaker machine (it sends an electric shock through the pipes to break up the ice) and finally get the heater started. This went on for at least 3 weeks!! Then in March we had record flooding on the Brandywine as the ice jams thawed. I know of about a half dozen homes that had just froze, now got flooded! Ice? No thanks. Can't drive anywhere in it, and it can wreck your home if you're left without heat too long.
  10. I'm so confused trying to follow this one. That is one crazy gradient of almost 30 degrees---so even if it rains here as the low pressure is to our west--as it pulls away some artic air rushes in. I was just reading the HWO for our area as they are talking flash freeze. Even if we end up on the warm side of the storm for a while and it rains, and precip has ended before the drop in temps, what sort of impacts do you think might occur? You can't salt roads while it's raining and if that cold air comes rushing in, it may make for some icy travel? Thanks--please correct me if I'm not following current guidance thinking.... From HWO: For Saturday and Sunday, a significant winter storm is probable, however the details including precipitation types and impacts are less certain at this time. A flash freeze is possible Sunday afternoon and night as arctic air pours into the area.
  11. Still have some snizzle in southern Chester county. Naked eye measurement is at least 2” since around 6:30 last night. Lol. I do expect may get a little more imby as a coastal band may reach me this afternoon. Go Birds!!!
  12. Not giving up yet. One day I look forward to model consistency! LOL Ukie/Euro is at least in a better spot atm then the Dec threat y'all were tracking.
  13. Had sleet changing to mix more rainy now in New Garden Twp. @ 30 degrees. Temps expected to rise here.
  14. Some Chesco schools have called for an early dismissal. If this keeps up it's going to be a hairy ride home. I'm still thinking I'll be OK -stay safe. The 1st everyone driving in snow is usually a disaster because most folks are not prepared and think they can still go 50-60mph on side roads that are posted @ 45.
  15. Yep, that's where I'm going too--outside for lunch.
  16. KSQ (mushroom capital of the world) at work in my cube with no windows!! I want to run outside! Moderate SN now just sticking to cars and grass-WOW on 11/15 too. 31 deg. Forecast is a high of 34 today.
  17. The jean drawer in my dresser and multiple windows, swelled shut. The front door won't close all the way. At this point will the AC even help? I usually don't run it the last week of Sept!
  18. Hopefully we can salvage the last few days of this month. I've never seen anything like it, working on day 18 of recorded rain. Don't even get me started on the humidity. Thanks for the ChesCo info, Chesco! Good day everyone! Some heavy hitters coming tomorrow evening.
  19. 72 degrees dew=68 @ 4pm. Note this is 16hrs. after last poster made an obs of a dew pt. of 67 Someone please turn it down!
  20. Alright, I'll bite.. Rita. 111 deaths DURING the evacuation. There wasn't enough time. Now, public officials that you elect make the call for a mandatory evac so why are you here spewing about it? This is a weather site.
  21. You are comparing a storm to an ongoing storm. go away and come back when the final stats are in. Florence's pressure is not far off of what Sandy was. Infants around here, they all need to take a nap!
  22. Feel for you mods, thanks for listening to me. It took a lot to say anything, I'll leave it alone now. This is a horrible post.
