It's frustrating to waste cold air on flurries while 1 inch per hour rates are dumping 5 miles away!
-
Heavy returns just keep training about 5 miles west of me but eastward progression just seems non-existent.
-
When in doubt, go frozen.
-
Snow has started here. Light. No sleet. 29.6 degrees. South wind.
-
It's had me with virga until midnight. So if I can start earlier it is a huge win here.
-
Snow started just to my SW per a friend who lives in Caryville. Should be soon here.
-
Looks like Huntsville fell from 38 to 30 with the wetbulbing then heavy snow.
-
The HRRR earlier had some 3-4 in totals around Huntsville but it wasn't reflected in their actual forecast. The latest run basically lines heavy snow up over the areas MRX/OHX has warned.
-
They are under a very heavy band. Hopefully that heads up this way.
-
I'm just wondering how long I'm going to have virga. Seems to have gotten to the ground quickly down Shawn's way if he already had some sleet.
-
Its killing me because I wanted the whole state to be under something. I think it lasted happened 6 years ago.
-
29 degrees, nothing falling but cloudy.
-
It's just getting rolling in the gulf. It's going to have about 1.5 inches of QPF to work with as it heads East.
-
I know it's around 1880feet. I cracked up that he doesn't think it will stick there because of the "puddle". He's pretty new and seeks clueless about terrain.
-
It's on the HRRR for your area and southwest. By 7cst it's here. Just a few sleet areas left.
-
The WVLT meteorologist is hilariously bad. He said "Heavy snow will fall for 2 or 3 hours on House Mountain in Knox but it won't stick because it will be falling into a puddle." That's actually the area getting a heavy dollop on the hi-res models.
-
Per the HRRR the sleet area in the mid state south of Nashville should transition to heavy snow by 8ish central time.
-
32/24. Temps falling quickly with the sunset.
-
RAP has moved back east and se with the snow shield too. Has a heavy area around northern Knox. Sometimes it takes getting within 5-6 hours before the HRRR and RAP really lock on.
-
Last run of the HRRR pushed snow back into the Knoxville area and had lots of heavy sleet involved too.
-
I hope you guys get 6+!
-
34/21 here. Much colder just to my west and north as well by 6-7 degrees. The SE ridge vs the Arctic high.
-
Getting clear just after sunset would be perfect for everyone for a quick drop in temps.
-
28/18 here. High clouds filtering sun.

Down to 13.6 now. Probably as low as I'm going to get. After being around freezing for several days in a row, the last 24 hours have frozen the ground solid and chilled road temps. I expect the snow currently on the ground to evaporate in large part today. But everything should be primed for rapid sticking this evening.
