I just want one freaking more severe wx event before we get into winter...ONE. In a summer which has been garbage that is not asking for much at all. We've barely had any. Had that one enhanced risk day which was good and fun for NY into central New England (where the enhanced risk belonged...not into freaking into CT...absolutely uncalled for) and had that Sunday warm front setup and a few other minor things but GARBAGE. This is why super hot just sucks for severe...WGAF if you have 5,0000 SBCAPE if there's no trigger or shear. They had better severe in CA Saturday than we've had. That's just wrong
Plenty of MCS potential across northern New England with the upcoming pattern. It just sucks we can break off a piece of EML air and advect it this way...though it tries to happen. I'm also expecting another derecho event in the upper-Midwest/Ohio Valley region
Having playoff hockey games at like 3-4 PM during the week is super weird. Hell, the Bruins had the 11:00 AM game last week
Part of me likes it since I wake up around 4 AM but I'll miss a chunk of today's game b/c I have meetings until 4:30
You said it pretty darn well here. This is a no win situation for everyone involved. This situation too would be a PERFECT way to prove just how effective masks are. I totally get the notion that you can't expect a 5-6-7 year old child to keep a mask on all day but if school's are going to be in session at least enforce a mask policy. But then that just draws out the clowns who whine and cry b/c they don't have a "choice" anymore
It certainly does have a different feel...certainly a much different vibe...but at least the pace of play has been playoff like which is great. But the thrill of the crowd, noise, and everyone going nuts after a goal...that's a huge loss.
I just can't see how schools can go back. Going to kill progress that has been made in the states that have worked hard to contain and it will only make things worse in states being hit hard.
For me, I don't necessarily care about the record high temps. I just want it hot....or like very warm. 90's is great but if it could be in the 80's every day from May -September I would be extremely happy. 70's in October and April. I can tolerate 30's and 40's in winter but getting into the 20's and lower....brutal.
There's been some pretty encouraging news regarding how long anti-bodies last post-COVID infection. Seems to be settling down some of the concerns early on about how long they persist. But apparently even in mild cases the results are looking promising.
I also wonder how we continue to do so well in CT...considering how many other states continue to see things out of control. Not sure what's up with the blip circled but I don't recall any daily % numbers that high but we have been hovering around or below 1% for nearly two months now.
Super nervous though if schools re-open and the news with UCONN is a little uneasy
Especially if the Gulf becomes active or the southeast U.S. The pattern is setup to get some stronger troughs to start digging into the east. but who the hell knows...pattern could completely flip and as we move through fall we see a trough develop in the west.
I wish I really enjoyed it more. I did go to the beach probably at least a dozen times and went hiking several times but I still wish I got outside and enjoyed more...especially during the week. One thing I miss about West Hartford was the center and walking around...I used to go on 1-2 hour walks so much. I did get myself back into playing Pokemon Go after 3 years so that got me to do a little more walking.
Anyways though...as much as I love heat/humidity (although the sweating sucks b/c I like to be clean) it really was a waste this summer. Hardly any solid convective setups...that day with the enhanced risk into CT...followed by the ridiculous tornado watch then followed by the garbage warnings" was trash.
At some point as we move through September we'll start getting some shots of much cooler air (so long as the Arctic configuration doesn't change). But as long as warmer air gets pumped into west-central Canada we'll continue to see shots of well above-average temperatures. The questions becomes what dominates more and just based on the look of everything above-average will likely win out.
At some point we should start tapping into some tropical moisture too so we may have some wetter times ahead. I don't think the fall will be very dry.
They key is going to be how southeastern Canada behaves but with that massive heat ridge in the west there is ample opportunity to break off pieces of heat and shoot them this way. Maybe we don't see 3...4...5+ days of heat in a row but there is still plenty of room to sneak in a day or two over the upcoming weeks.
