Let’s do this again next Saturday on the GFS. Euro has something too

Pretty awful pattern moving probably through the first week of June...pretty ripe for these type of developments...maybe not as extreme as this.

Making 'merica great agi'n has NWS short staffed and stressed to substantive analysis  ?

I wonder if local offices pushes for it. They are under a plume of steeper lapse rates moving in from the west and the breaks have yielded some very steep llvl lapse rates. The HRRR does have a few intense storms developing in the next hour or two. Dewpoints on the lower side though for what you'd like to see

I expect the 798hr cfs from you in July.

    It's coming!!!

No soundings available, however, if you close your eyes you can see the EML coming straight for us

  4. Wow...don't see this too often.

A tornado watch for parts of Ohio and Pennsylvania...under a marginal risk.

An MCD was issued 1:46 saying watch unlikely (20%)...then at 2:40 a tornado watch comes out.

Environment not terrible with the breaks in the sun there

Thanks Wiz you teach me something new everyday ☺️

It's probably a low probability but just enough elevated instability present that someone may get a rumble.

Just something I noticed in the point and click. No WAY can this be correct..Thunderstorms with cold temps and an easterly wind? That’s rubbish, no?

    Thursday
Showers and possibly a thunderstorm before 3pm, then showers between 3pm and 5pm, then showers and possibly a thunderstorm after 5pm. Some of the storms could produce heavy rainfall. Patchy fog. High near 51. Northeast wind 11 to 15 mph, with gusts as high as 31 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between a half and three quarters of an inch possible.

    Elevated instability

Meh still a few things that could screw that up and still 6 days out.. not awt yet

And congrats central and Northern VT/NH on the 12z NAM

I guess comparatively, Monday will be "decent" but that's not really saying much. I would think we still have a quite a bit of clouds around. There will be a bit of a breeze too, especially eastern areas and it will be a chilly breeze too. Not sure anyone really gets close to 70...probably 65-68 for warmest readings. At least it will be dry I guess

Hilarious that the weather service there suggests "adding layers" to prevent catching a cold.  I will boldly state that a temperature drop from 41c to 26c has no impact on the transmissibility of a cold virus.

I think it has to do more with the fact that a temperature swing like that is like a shock to the body which can impact the immune system negatively.

Does he have a storm cellar?

Nope...he's had to hide it out in his bathroom a few times. Him and his wife just put on a hockey helmet and bunker in the bathroom lol

  10. Anyone familiar with GIS? One of my two courses in the Fall is Principles of GIS. GIS looks sick and really cool...I just am absolutely, abysmal and not equipped for coding so I'm a little nervous  I've tried a million times to try and learn/understand python and get nowhere.

According to NWS (   https://www.weather.gov/wrh/Climate?wfo=box  )  the 4 majors are all running +4 to +5 ( decimals notwithstanding...) on the month.

I was just looking at the MEX for next week at BDL-FIT-ASH and around that arc, the machine numbers are -10 to -13 for couple few days later this week.   Probably going to correct some of the positive anomaly down.

Funny though ... doesn't seem at all that positive to begin with.   interesting

Our perceptions have become so extremely skewed. I mean think about how much talk there has been about heat/humidity (and the lack of). I mean its freaking May, especially when it comes to humidity. It seemed like in the 90's and 2000's (only using this period because well it's what I am old enough to remember) we really wouldn't get "humid" until like later June or early July and it was generally 60's dewpoints. We wouldn't sniff 70 until late July or August.

But its freaking May 19 lol. I'd say this has been about as "normal" as a Spring can be for this region. We've had a share of shit days and a share of great days. The warmest days have seen many spots get well into the 80's.

Good night for the bruins however. Makes that first round pick look almost like a sure thing.

Pretty much a lock. At minimum Marchand just needs to play in 2 games against the Canes.

How many game 7 losses in a row? Not to mention they were up 2-0 in the series. Then again so were the bruins last year. Up 3-1

7 in a row. Them and the Avs both hold that current streak.

68 isn't cold to me. It's basically room temp.  The wind is a bit chilly though, I'll give you that.

68 isn't bad by itself...but its a different feel when you have thick overcast and a breeze.

68 as a room temperature is comfortable, but sit in the room with a fan blowing on you and that 68 isn't going to be as comfortable anymore (though I get some people enjoy that).

    Literally avg temps

Avg doesn’t mean it can’t be cool nor does it mean it can’t be hot.

if the average temp is 23 and it’s 23 outside, it might be average, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s cold.

if the average temp is 99 and it’s 99 out, it might be average, but that doesn’t change the fact that it’s hot.
