  1. Persistent lake effect snow for the past 24 hours or so has accumulated around 7 inches here. Deepest snow of the season at my house. Picnic table now completely buried. Pattern ahead looks active as well.
  2. Looks like lots of little disturbances and clippers in the long range. Munising will do well in that setup. Hope the snow is deep for you. If you’re there on a weekend, a hidden gem about 20 miles south of munising is the camel riders restaurant. It’s only open Friday and Saturday this time of year, but it’s worth the excursion. Just when you think you might be lost, you’ll find it.
  3. Weather has been pretty quiet up here, relatively speaking. Mostly wind and some cold temps. Low this morning was 2 degrees after off and on snow-squally weather yesterday and last night. Have had 8-10" of snow over the past week, mostly in 1-3" increments. Went on an early morning snowshoe today, snow stake in the back measuring 3' of snow... snow water equiv must be around 7".
  4. Almost dying in 5' of snow during a blizzard seems to have really taken the passion out of your hobby. I rode through that area this fall and stopped to think how scary I'm sure that was and how alone that must have felt being so far from anyone or anything. It would have changed me I think. There's been plenty of snow up here for riding for a while now.
  5. Had between 15-16". The first part of the storm Monday a.m. under performed as the main fgen band set up further east of here than forecast. If not for that, would have realized the 20-24" predicted. Sun is finally out after what seems like forever. Pics from my backyard this morning.
  6. Snow has tapered to flurries after snowing for 24 hours straight... right around 100" for the season now. took these from inside the house
  7. Snowfall earlier on today was kind of a disappointment, but did pick up this afternoon. Colder air is now moving in and it's coming down pretty good. Have had what looks to be 8" so far, with another 10-12" likely. Snowy night in the yoop!
  8. 32 with freezing rain. Point forecast has a storm total of nearly 2’ here. It’s Gonna get wild today.
  9. Got more ice than snow here last night. Trees are drooping really bad. Looks like another crippling storm- AFD mentions the possibility of several hours of 2-3" of snow per hour in the morning into afternoon tomorrow. Got a generator after a few days without power earlier this month....bring it
  10. I have noticed a lot more freezing rain events and very wet snows, like 10:1 and less. Average winter snow ratio here is 18:1. Haven’t seen a lot of fluffy snow past couple winters, whether that’s a thing now, idk.
  11. Looks like a few inches of snow tonight followed by possibly .3-.5” of ice, then rain and 35 degrees tomorrow...followed by heavy snow Monday. Could end up with around 20” of wet snow, with 21” still on the ground here currently.
  12. Wow, so pretty. Merry Christmas Josh!
  13. 31 with a dense fog advisory, Ice fog Covering the pines. Merry Christmas all you guys!
  14. There's been a lot actually the past several years, although my little corner here has not been under 200" a season since I've lived here. One or two years it was close and the depth only peaked around 30" one year, think it was 2016-17.
  15. Less than 100" by January first is just average.
  16. Point has 46 for a high tomorrow which would be record breaking for this area. kinda reminds me of a two week period or so last winter where it was dead and mild but then winter came roaring back.
  17. Last winter was the deepest snow I had ever seen imby. 60 plus inches in late feb. At that depth, it's pretty much impossible to measure, just feel encapsulated by it a little bit. I still have high hopes for this winter.
  18. 100% why I live where moose outpopulate people
  19. -8 tonight as high clouds begin to move in... so excited for the mid-30's this weekend.
  20. 8 degrees with snow showers... Several inches of snow the past 24 hours here. Pic from a squall earlier today (lasted 5 minutes). Must be somewhere around 80" for the season so far.
  21. 16 degrees, snowing pretty good tonight... probably 3" down. Warm fire.
  22. Hey... My house sits at 1600' and the high spot on my property is about 1640'. If roads/weather are good, it take about 25 min to get to Marquette. It's actually closer to go to Big Bay but as you know, that's a giant dead-end. The average depth here at my house is around 32", but I imagine some areas west of here, too remote to get to this time of year and even higher in elevation, may have a little more possibly. The highest reported depth I can find up here is Painsdale at 37" and even MQT has a 28" depth. Unless a giant thaw happens or it just stops snowing, I can see where a 5' peak depth may happen again this year.
  23. Went to po box this morning. Took a couple pics of my road. It's been pretty much one vehicle at a time for a couple weeks. Luckily, rarely pass anyone on it this time of the year.
