  1. My leaves appear to be giving up the fight today. Falling like snow on this light breeze.
  2. Thank you for your thoughts. Good luck with your outlook.
  3. I applaud you all who put in the time to develop a seasonal forecast. I'm of the opinion that we struggle to get day 5 right most of the time, so why try for day 55.
  4. Been awhile since we've had a good January right?
  5. Still been pretty cool to see around here that the bottom of the hill has a nice frost in the AM while at the top of the hill...nothing.
  6. Isn't November typically endless cloud cover, 50s and drizzle? Or am I thinking April?
  7. What do we need at our latitude for the lights to be visible to the eye?
  8. Getting in a couple rounds this weekend. Playing in a scramble tournament Saturday (with big cups; never done that). So getting in a practice round tomorrow.
  9. Glad to know that we can't forecast space weather either.
  10. It's always a good time to remind ourselves that ensembles should be favored beyond day 5. Large swings in model guidance are still likely. Meanwhile...the GEFS & EPS have been rather consistent for the offshore Sunday system. Passing harmlessly out by Bermuda. GEFS slightly more consistent.
  11. Looks like its closer to 53". Just noticed there are a series of missing years 1996-2002.
  12. Worcester for example averages 50.7" of snow (1990-2020) for DJF according to http://xmacis.rcc-acis.org/. The average maximum temperature observed DJF for same period is 61 F. So perhaps its dew point would be the bet. Or certainly favored.
  13. Probably a half decent bet....what will be higher during meteorological winter: the highest observed dew point or inches of snow received?
  14. Windier out there today than from Hurricane Wanda. Only direction we get wind from here is northwest.
  15. Naked swirl drifting across the north Atlantic has a name...but what landfalled on Nantucket and smoked parts of southeastern New England got nothing? (yes I know its the same system)
  16. Nice stretch of Stein to begin the month on the GFS. Yes please.
  17. I do. But they just seem to always take my money and never send any back. Yep. Have about 40 bags of wet leaves to fill.
  18. Just dawned on this dummy that we are clouded over tomorrow night. Damn
  19. Anyone have thoughts on where to potentially view this? And for an uneducated question.....visible to the naked eye?
  20. Should I lock in the 18" of snow the GFS has for my hood now or wait a little bit?
  21. Didn't you learn earlier....a freeze doesn't happen until the mid-20s for temps. Same here. I sit at 410'. The bottom of my hill is 0.5 miles away and 215' lower with heavy frost this AM.
  22. Would be nice to see a few flakes during the first 10 days of November. Certainly looks like we'll have a few chances based on GFS.
  23. Dad in Brockton reports no power and trees down everywhere. First thought he had was Hurricane Bob when he was driving around.
