Power is out here in Marion. At my sister's place that is far from water but elevated. Wind is getting frisky here already.. Catawba closing in on 15 feet. Record from Frances is 17.55. I think that record will shatter later. Question is will it get up to 20 feet. My house should be fine up to 20 feet.

I have noticed that too. That is very bad for us in the foothills and mountains for NC.

The Catawba crested at minor flood over 13 ft but will undoubtedly rise again later today. Western McDowell got it bad. I'm at 5.24 the last 24 hours and 6.09 since Monday.

I figured you would post during this. Good to see you back. I'm only at 2.16 today being a little further east. I bet some places near Old Fort have gotten over 4 to 5 inches already.

Bad flooding in Asheville already and the escarpment is getting nailed right now and it looks like it won't let up for hours. Bad situation early in the game.
