I think we have all heard talk of blockbuster snow patterns that haven't worked out the past few years so I'm pretty wary. Especially with so much model disagreement and changing run to run. DT said today the upcoming pattern is the best he has seen since January 1996..
-
The OP is insistent on a storm track through the OH valley or Midwest. Nothing close to a snowy pattern shown on the OP
-
No flakes here in Marion, most of the returns are further NE
-
Hopefully the models will start playing catch up
-
Flash flooding?
-
20 here this morning, the lows this month have been quite cold compared to last winter already.
-
The difference between the GFS and Euro is laughable
-
The long range GFS is Lots of rain though..
-
Euro shows a possible CAD setup day 11 but probably cold rain or ice.
-
it doesn't even drop in the teens in Asheville on the Euro compared to single digits on GFS.
-
Yea the Euro is not even close. The cold front isn't near as strong
-
Flooding rain instead of snow?
-
The Euro looks much different I'm afraid. Not nearly as sharp with the front and not as much moisture behind it
-
I have never seen Anafrontal snow here like that. The mountains are in a good spot though and will cash in on Nwfs
-
Born in 87 so missed that one
-
That's true but I wasn't living in NC
-
I can't remember any lows below 10 here. Need to check though to make sure
-
That's a cold Christmas night.. May be the coldest in my lifetime
-
It's God awful. No matter which side of the fence you are on, it's obvious that the federal government has destroyed the national weather service...their funding is pitiful.
-
It's amazing how the mountains can squeeze out snow out of nothing
-
GFS agrees that a nice NWFS is coming for Christmas
-
Surprised that none of you northwest flow peeps didn't mention the Euro. Shows a healthy looking event after the frontal passage near Christmas eve.
-
Looking at a blend of the models, it looks like a quick shot of cold air then warming back up..
-
Pretty decent accrual here on ridge tops above 1800. Will try and upload pics later.

One thing I know for sure, the ground is incredibly saturated. We may get close to another inch of rain at this rate and are heading for our 6th month in a row of above average rainfall
