  1. The cold is coming from the west south west, very odd
  2. Fog is settling in here near the Catawba. No wind and 48.
  3. New 3K NAM backed off some for AVL area. Think 2 to maybe 3 inches for most of Buncombe. I think the smokies will be the big winners in this setup. Leconte should go over a foot
  4. Best fantasy storm of the winter IMBY. If the block holds and the storm doesn't gain too much latitude in the plains we could be in business.
  5. That wave of low pressure developing on the front is interesting. I would still be surprised if Asheville for more than 2 inches but short range models are putting out 4-6 even for the city.
  6. Yea its interesting to see all the short range models increase totals..
  7. Afraid escarpment areas have flooding issues on the horizon
  8. All of this moisture and 99% of it is rain east of the mountains...
  9. We won't see any accumulation here but it's only a short drive to Linville!
  10. We suck so bad at winter we don't even get sexy fantasy snow maps to look at anymore
  11. I'm in the prefer warm and dry camp if we don't get snow. 60s and winter fishing sounds much better than 40s and rain or 20s and wind.
  12. We can see snow and snowy patterns when the indices are bad so I imagine we can definitely see bad patterns when the indices are good.
  13. The long range GFS continues to be a train wreck
  14. Around the 28th is going to be interesting for the mountains. Cold air is borderline but models are starting to see a storm
  15. It is typical but disheartening when Mets keep honking about a blockbuster pattern coming
  16. Warm up, rain, get cold for a day or 2, warm up rain, get cold. Rinse, wash, repeat.
  17. I think we have all heard talk of blockbuster snow patterns that haven't worked out the past few years so I'm pretty wary. Especially with so much model disagreement and changing run to run. DT said today the upcoming pattern is the best he has seen since January 1996..
  18. The OP is insistent on a storm track through the OH valley or Midwest. Nothing close to a snowy pattern shown on the OP
  19. No flakes here in Marion, most of the returns are further NE
  20. Hopefully the models will start playing catch up
