  1. She's pretty close to the mark -- just glanced again outside, and in areas of open grass, I'd estimate that there's ~1" here at Belvoir. All roads and parking lots within sight are mostly snow covered...they're not usually in as good shape on post as they are out on the mains anyway. Still shocked.
  2. Ahhh, tell me it's going to be one of those homemade soup days you're famous for, @Mrs.J... 33/29 at Fort Belvoir, still w/ moderate snow. Everything covered...a lot more (.5" ?) than in this pic, which was snapped 30 minutes ago.
  3. 33/30 at Fort Belvoir, with moderate SN. Grass mostly covered and roads are starting to give in. I am...honestly shocked. A few trees nearby w/ fiery orange leaves are becoming snow covered, looking a bit surreal...gonna try and get some pics.
  4. If the T/L over the western Philly 'burbs in that loop was anything like what we had just after midnight last night, I don't imagine a lot of those folks got much sleep.
  5. Not the best shot of the last night's approaching shelf cloud (snapped just before 6:30 p.m. IMBY), as it was almost ready to move directly overhead...but you can see some of its movement at mid-screen. At that point, I think FfxCo was also under a tornado warning, so those cheesy-looking, grey/green clouds just above the treeline gave me pause.
  6. Really interesting to hear the derecho talk this morning...in looking at radar around 6:30 p.m. last night (and I could kick myself for not grabbing a screencap), there appeared to be a prominent bow echo, with the leading edge bearing down on the Alexandria/Belle Haven area, then bending back over the District to the north and PWCo to the south. Some excellent pics of shelf clouds associated with last evening's derecho or near-derecho, too, on Twitter today.
  7. I like to run with scissors...
